When I was just learning Spanish (I mean first month or so), I heard a friend of mine (from Barcelona) say when drunk: "Me robaron la cámara!" all stressed out. (The sentences means: they stole my camera). That's not the strange part Since I'm Italian, I thought they had stolen her ROOM (camera, in Italian), and since she was drunk and speaking like something impossible happened... I thought something weird was going on. She was drunk, so she wouldn't speak Italian, and I tried with my very little Spanish to understand what was going on. She kept saying "Me robaron la cámara!", and I kept thinking the same: "She lives in a residence, with thousand students. How is it possible one just gets in, goes to the THIRD FLOOR, steals a ROOM and noone notices?". We kept going for 20 minutes or so, until another friend we had in common (Italian who was more advanced in Spanish) told us both what was going on. We all laughed (we were like 7-8 people, at that moment), just not my friend, who still got her camera stolen.
