Anyone watch the true blood premiere? Looks like it's going to be a good season! I didn't like all the Mana crap in the second season. This season is going to focus more on vampires and werewolves.

Haven't watched it yet, but I've got it DVR'd. I'll watch it later this afternoon.

Too bad Roth left the project, a lot of people don't like him but I enjoy his movies. I hope you're right about it not being a TV movie. I just don't see how that would work.

I just want to see how King changed the ending. In November, he said the screenplay's ending is different than the book's ending because he had received a lot of complaints about the book's ending.

Do you know if Eli Roth is still set to direct Cell? Or was he just helping with the script? Cell was a good read, I didn't like the ending but it was still a good story.

Roth backed out of it a while ago. No word yet about his replacement.

So far the only thing I've heard is that it's going to TV. Fucked that one up IMO.

Last I heard, Dimension is still planning on it being a theatrical release. Haven't heard anything about it being a TV movie.

I wish they would remake The Stand. That shit they threw together and put on TV sucked and didn't do the book justice. Big budget with Spielburg? at the helm and real good stars in it's place.
Same with IT. I mean Harry Anderson, Richard Thomas and John Ritter? Give me a break.

Being a huge Stephen King fan, I've got to say the only King adaptation that did his books any justice was the 1997 miniseries The Shining. Probably because ABC gave King a blank check to redo it. King wrote the screenplay and got Mick Garris to direct. I just wish they had picked a better cast. Steven Weber & Rebecca de Mornay were rather dull in their roles, although Weber had huge shoes to filll.

The only other films or miniseries that had anything to do with King that were absolutely amazing were Storm Of The Century & Kingdom Hospital.

I wish Dimension Films would hurry up with the Cell adaptation.
Seether - 'Careless Whisper'

Got to hand it to Seether for taking a cheesy '80s pop ballad and turning it into a rock song.
Can't wait.....even though I have to wait a little longer since I work overnights and can't watch it when it premieres. Good thing I've got a DVR smile

Books: Bram Stoker's Dracula, anything Anne Rice ever wrote, The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, L.A. Banks' The Vampire Huntress Legend Series, The Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris, & the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer (Yes, I'm a guy...So what?) among others.

Shows: True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, & The Gates (I'm actually eagerly anticipating this when it premieres on June 20th) among others.

Movies: Dracula....both the 1931 original silent b&w version with Bela Lugosi and the 1992 version by Francis Ford Coppola, The Lost Boys, the Underworld trilogy, Innocent Blood, The Twilight Saga (Yes, I'm a guy...So what?), & Vampire Hunter D among others.
"I don't think I've laughed with anybody since I met Riley," he said, echoing my thoughts.

Even though I despise Disney live-action movies, I'm actually interested in the new live-action version of The Sorcerer's Apprentice. I just wish they had picked someone other than Nicolas Cage to star in it, but I guess that's what we get for him being so successful in the National Treasure movies.

NO NO NO NO NO!!!! Classics like that jjust should not be allowed to be remade nuff said

So you wouldn't want to see how some of today's most talented people in Hollywood would retell any of your favorite movies? Sure, the numbers show that most retells aren't that good, but nobody will know how the movie would turn out with a different director or cast UNLESS the movie gets remade/retold. I'm sure there are movies that you've watched that you've said "That would have been so much better if so & so made it or so & so had been in it."

So. I'm all for new people retelling some of my favorite movies.

Wizard of OZ

I guess you haven't heard that Tim Burton is in the early stages of a remake. He claims his retelling will be more accurate to the book (which is exactly what he did w/ Charlie & The Chocolate Factory.

And Burton's in negotiations to turn Gregory Maguire's The Wicked Years series of books into movies.

Anyway, there really aren't any movies I want to see remade. Like thepainter said, most movie remakes are horrible. The few exceptions I can think of (in my opinion anyway since they were technically reenvisions) are Rob Zombie's Halloween & Halloween 2 and the recent Nightmare On Elm Street.
