Steak pudding with suet pastry.
In the Heat of The Night = the question also included why and it's because it represents a change in US social conditions possibly even helped to change the law. was extremely well acted. is deeply moving without being preachy and yet also humourous and entertaining.
Whilst describing in a manuscript what it was like to be marooned in the Libyan desert this line encapsulated it all for me:
''Communing with nature and fasting in the wilderness may be the perfect way for an Old Testament prophet to while away the odd month or two but to a virile nineteen year old dying to become part of the new society soon to be called permissive those delights were a little passe.''
A low lying row of bushes beneath an olive tree which once we were lying down nobody could see. Totally naked in the hot sun mmm yes very pleasant and illicit memories and the inspiration for many a solo fantasy.
I presume this is an uninhabited tropical island not some icy part of the Northern or Southern hemisphere? If so then finding water would be the main priority as nothing else would matter for just 7 days - apart from hopefully holding decent conversations as I would not presume my companion to be necessarily of the opposite sex or/and cooperative.
As a footnote to this there is a long running radio programme on BBC radio that sets a scenario each week where a famous person has to select 8 or so records to play whilst on a desert island called Desert Island Discs although I suppose to be up to date with modern thingy techno babble it should be called Desert Island NP3 which doesn't have the One same alliterative tone to it.
However one of my selections would be We Gotta Get Out Of This Place by the Animals.
Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger - though to even use the word actor with regard to them is stretching the meaning somewhat.
Either but absolutely silent is a real turn off.
Elvis (thanks to his illegal immigrant manager he never left the USA to tour), Beatles (biggest band in the world no matter what age you are). Ricky Nelson and maybe the biggest regret of all - the most wistful and the most important early casualty - Buddy Holly even Madonna acknowledged his importance and he probably single handedly influenced the sale of Fender Stratocaster guitars.
I must be conservative but YECHH!!
I think lasting songs have the most impressive lyrics - those called standards. Here's a few lines from someone who in my opinion is the USA's greatest popular song writer Cole Porter. His stuff lasts - it must as he was before my time
In the roaring traffic's boom,
In the silence of my lonely room,
I think of you night and day.
This is sexy but can be inconvenient.
I would refuse. Anybody of either gender who drives a car designed to do ridiculous speeds is brain dead and insecure and should not be allowed on the road. I would hope that you have to leave the car in the car park and that it gets nicked by a 12 year joy old rider who crashes it but escapes unhurt and sets fire to it. If nothing else the increased insurance price might deter you from getting a similar vehicle.
I had a similar experience when attacked by a neighbour as I put the key in my front door one Christmas Eve. Even though I now live in a different country every time I put the key in the lock I remember it. I have learned to just push the thought away when it gets so triggered, My advice would be that it will get less and each time you have the memory consciously push it away eventually it will get less painful and can be pushed away faster but unfortunately it may still happen albeit less sharply.
Now if he also offered to buy a fish and chip supper it would be really tempting.
Everybody has an accent albeit not necessarily regional. Most US accents can be traced back to Elizabethan times. This can also explain some of the more archaic meanings used within US speech as, due to a degree of isolation, meanings have stayed the same whereas UK English for example has changed more.
The only recording I had of my old band was a snapped cassette. A skilfull friend spliced it last year it was then played into a computer from a cassette player and turned into CDs so the scotch tape definiteley came in handy.
