The written story is one of my favorite of King's works, and it is likely the most fiathful adaptation of any of his works, and certainly in my mind the most successful- Frank Darbont did a brilliant job, and all the acting is top notch!
The Lord of the Rings movies were all well made, though I think that they were better when they stuck close to the source material, and suffered at those moments when they wildly diverged.
One trilogy of books that I love deeply has never been adapted to the screen, and I do hope that eventually someone will do The Fionavar Tapestry justice on the big screen, because I think they would make a fantastic trilogy of fantasy movies.
