I read traditional Chinese, and I always, ALWAYS caution people against getting character tats. The Asian languages doesnt "work" the same way english does- one character does not always have one meaning. It's always grammatically better to string a whole phrase together. There is no ONE character that means (and these are the ones I've see) beautiful, sisters, strength, thoughtful, mysterious. It takes two or three characters sometimes- there's the context too, and different characters is used in different context. There is one word for love, but ther are so many people with that tat it's cliche.

And then there is the issue of the handwriting. I've seen it so badly done akin to the handwriting of a three year old. Asian handwriting - be it Chinese or Japanese , takes years to perfect. Its Hard for me to explain the nuance.

My suggestion is unless your tattoo artist is Asian, or you're getting your tattoo in Hong Kong or Tokyo, go with somthing in English, French, Spanish....

I believe in Soulmates, but I also believe that who they are changes as you grow as a person.

The first guy I thought was my soulmate- we moved beyond the ability to have a relationship with each other. I love him, and I refer to him as "The Love of my Life" still. I now know that an intimate relationship with him would end in tears, and most likely bloodshed.

I married the second man I thought was my soulmate. We're still married, and he knows me better then anyone else, and he loves me for all the eccentric, neurotic and impulsive person that I can be. But there is a gap in my life, and growing wider and changing as I change as a person.

I met a man not to long ago, and he can finish a sentence before I even start it, look into my eyes and know what I'm thinking, and holds my hand when I need it held most. This man could very well be the latest incarnation of my soulmate, but I think the term 'Twin Self" is more appropriate, and describes the connection between us. But physical distance, as well as my current status, makes that impossible.
Not a picture, but food related: On Writing about food

I was once told the act of eating and sex are closely related: both invlove the insertion of something warm into one's body, and we get a fulfillment of sorts out of both, and from that deduction, we can only assume that food writing and erotic writing is closely related.
On that note, these are my two favorite genres to write smile

From the forward of MFK Fisher's "Gastronomical Me" - my inspiration/ aspiration:

People ask me: Why do you write about food, and eating and drinking? Why don't you write about the struggle for power and security, and about love, the way others do. They ask it accusingly, as if I were somehow gross, unfaithful to the honor of my craft. The easiest answer is to say that, like most humans, I am hungry. But there is more than that. It seems to me that our three basic needs, for food and security and love are so mixed and mingled and entwined that we cannot straightly think of one without the others. So it happens that when I write of hunger, I am really writing about love and the hunger for it, and warmth and the love of it and the hunger for it..."
been following this one from the sidelines...

Nicola, why don't we just put this to the vote?? :-D

*EDIT* - okay, obviosuly I wasn't paying attention ;) the people have spoken!!

And SPRITE!! You S**T Disturber!!
Almost everything from "Secratary", especially the last scene, where he baths her in that beautiful copper bathtub...no sex invloved....

Spader made "Des Moins" sound desireable...
... almost like somthing out of a certain movie that invloves a certain yellow brick road (or was it a chocolate factory?), a band of vertically challenged little people dressed in Lederhosens and funny hats emerged....
Good Lord... I can't explain to you, but I can name the perfect Example.

I just saw a quick snippet of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof before work yesterday. In it, Elizabeth's Taylor's character, Maggie, got smeared with Ice Cream on her leg by her brats of a neice.

She stomps upstairs to her bedroom, where her husband (Paul Newman) is getting sauced. She sits at her vanity, and all while venting, unclips her stocking, clean herself off, and puts on a clean pair.

She oozed sex with every pore of being.
I know this is the guy's forum but...

You feel lust in your loins and you may get it out of your system with time. If the person you lust after hurts you, you're going to move on, and be fine. In fact, you may feel stronger for it.
You feel love in your soul and it's indelible. If they hurt you, a little bit of you dies. You will still emerge, but your heart will be a little scarred. You will still emerge stronger for it, but one will always question the what ifs.

They can, of course, be felt independent of each other.

Every once in a great while, you will Love and Lust after the same person.
It's amazing if the other person feel the same way,
It rips your heart out of if they don't.
Nope.. its seven letters... I'm totally out of it today... *LOL*
