Rap & hip-hop have never been a style I've enjoyed. I find much of it misogynistic. When some songs can't play on the radio due to too much profanity in the lyrics. A swear word here or there is one thing... but when all you'd hear is "beep, beep, beep," then maybe they writer should find a thesaurus and pick some different words.
1. I have an crippling fear if heights. I can freeze up and lose my shit at the same time.
2. I'm scared of bats.
3. I struggle with depression and found writing to be what keeps me from falling into the darkness.
4. I hate camping (don't tell my son )
5. I've only ever smoked cigarettes... and I quit over seven years ago.
6. I'm a bibliophile... Barnes & Nobel is my Mecca & I could spend my entire paycheck there if I were allowed.
7. When bored, I will start writing a story... even with paper & pencil (or pen).

Dude! I was going to take the cart you snatched and gave to the other customer. Even the lady who had returned the cart tried to tell you I was there.

Oh... and maybe you should actually TALK TO CUSTOMERS! I wasted over an hour in that fucking warehouse getting books for my students only to find out that they weren't available for the so-called sale and what you had on said SUCKED!

Ya know... whatever. If I wait for you to come to my school like you did last year... I can get more for less and at least my school benefits! That's more than I can say for this so-called "sale" y'all had going on.

Separate Rage/Rant

If I ask you a question about when your store is having their "Teacher Appreciation Sale" (day... week... whatever)... don't fucking tell me you had it in May then a week later announce it's the following week! And don't lie to me by saying you didn't know. You didn't fucking bother to check. Had you said, "It's coming... dates to be announced or TBA," I would have totally understood. So yes... I boycotted your store and spent my hard earned money at your competitions store because they made sure I knew when their sale was (which was a week before yours BTW.)

Don't claim to "appreciate teachers" then treat us like shit. If there's one things teachers have... it's a good memory.

I would love those nurses

I checked your profile to make sure I sent you some nurses who would work best. Glad to hear you're on medication that might help. Good luck Nerdy_Castle. I hope you heal quickly.
This is not something I would be comfortable with. He might be into it... but I'm not.
Mixed.

Happy because things at work went very well.

Annoyed for other reasons.
I'm bi. I know that. I've enjoyed a few ladies in my past, but found true happiness with my husband. I got lucky... I found a great guy.
It's all in the story telling. Some are better than others. And I know... that's true with any story genre.

1. What first inspired you to write this particular story? The Money Talks Comp... I wanted to write a story worthy, but different. I was getting my nails done when I was hit with the idea.

2. How did you come up with these characters? I love getting a good manicure & pedicure. I have a great nail gal, so Ciera was modeled after her. The narrator... well... I wanted a character with that unique "famous" name & I love Madonna's Vogue so I picked Rita Hayworth because, "She gave great face." As for the owner, I so often seen non-white men who own these places (black, Asian, Middle Eastern) so I just created a character for that. Even Cagaha name means "feet" in Somali.

3. How does it differ from some of your other stories? My first fetish story. I think the word count limit actually helped (thank you Nicola!)

4. What was the most challenging thing about writing this piece? The foot fetish element. I've avoided this category as I'm not a fan normally, but I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and push myself. From the feedback I've gotten... I feel I have successfully done this.

5. Anything else you want to tell us about it? Some already know this... but this story was actually the 2nd draft. The 1st draft was lost (as was a few other pieces) due to an OS crash on my laptop. Being force to start over from scratch made me rethink my approach. I took it from a 3rd person POV to a 1st person POV. I know some readers don't like the 1st person POV, but honestly, for this story, it was the right decision. The proof was the RR and placing in the Top 10 of the Money Talks Comp & it's an honor to have this story under the Suggested tab for Fetish stories with the amazing ChrissieLecker.

My advice to everyone would be to hang on for six months and wait for all the inevitable teething problems to be sorted first.

This reminds me of when Apple rolled out it's iOS 8 for the iPads and iPhones. My school send down a DO NO UPGRADE warming so I went from September of last year (or was it October... I know it was in the 1st quarter of the school year for me) until June this year when at a training they said, "UPGRADE YOUR OS" & I got scolded for not doing it sooner. UGH! I didn't even update my personal iPad until after I did it to my work iPad. The positive was that the bulk of the "bugs" with 8 had been worked out by then.

I have no problem waiting to go from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Maybe it will be like with my iPad... by the time I upgrade my laptop, the bulk of the bugs will have been worked out.
High school. He was a friend of a friend. However, it took MySpace for us to reconnect. It wasn't until we reconnected that I realized he was and is my one true love.

You are very kind and I'm honored you feel that way. Rest assured, I have equal admiration for your work. I also miss you as a mod.

Thank you my friend. I look forward to seeing if you enter a story in the newest comp. I've started mine... we'll see how it goes.

Good to know. I'm looking at it like this... I'll have enough to not only recycle for years... but extra in case they move me to a different classroom. I do however have a really, REALLY long bulletin board in my classroom so I should be good.
-Lying or not taking responsibility for your mistakes. Seriously... own your shit! I will respect you more for it.

-Not bringing the necessary supplies with you. Do you think the world will forever provide for you?

-People being a hypocrite.

-Shit Stirrers

-Not knowing the difference between being a friend and a parent.

-Crappy service from a waiter/waitress

-Stupid drivers who think they own the road.

-People who'd rather bitch than help out someone who needs guidance.
I do agree with the sentiment that it's not just a male thing. Some women can be just as... immature (for lack of a better word) as some men. Both men and women can enjoy the thrill of the chase. The difference is knowing what you want & knowing who you are as a person. My own husband will tell you that when we first got together as a couple... I didn't want a commitment... just a FWB. I had been hurt in the past. Telling him I loved him was huge... even though he'd told me he loved me without hesitation.

I think Buz said it best... what is it about these men that you are attracted too? Not all bad boys become good men. And no one can change unless they are willing too do so. You can't change someone to be what you think they should become... often... the change you get isn't what you want... nor is it a change you will accept.

I know I've changed in the over seven years I've been with my husband. I know he's changed too. I do believe we have both changed for the better.

That's the key difference. We've changed and grown as a couple.
Introduce the title of your story: The Bookworm & the Surfer
Genre/Category: Straight Sex

1. What first inspired you to write this particular story? I was invited by SandyMonroe to write a story for an anthology with a "song" theme. My husband suggested Summer Nights from Grease. I liked how the song was a "he said, she said" song where both told their side of a story, and it wasn't always the same story. So I took that approach with my story, shifting from one character's POV to the other and back again.

2. How did you come up with these characters? I liked the idea of a surfer who on the surface might not look intelligent, but actually is. I did model him after a real surfer who was more than generous with his information. Though the character is fictional, the information is real. My source was invaluable in making sure this read without being insulting and disrespectful. I also liked the shy, quiet girl who stereotypes the surfer. The female "bookworm" was easy as she's a lot like me.

3. How does it differ from some of your other stories? My first story with a changing POV from male to female as well the first time I've ever had a male 1st person POV.

4. What was the most challenging thing about writing this piece? The changing POVs, not making the male characters sound too feminine, and making sure my surfing facts were correct. I've never written a story where the POVs switch, nor had I written one that had a male 1st person POV before this. In the end, I'm very pleased with the final result.

5. Anything else you want to tell us about it? It was blessed early on with a Recommended Read and this is a story I'm extremely proud of. The feedback has been amazing and I feel so blessed that so many have enjoyed it.

A final thought... I wish to thank ChuckEPoo for his surfing knowledge and feedback. That helped so much and this story would not be nearly as awesome without him. I also wish to thank WSCLG for proofreading I don't know how many times for me and catching my silly typos. His feedback helped so much as well. Finally... a HUGE thanks to SandyMonore for a second chance to write a story for another amazing anthology. I'm so honored to be included with so many amazing authors.
Your talent is amazing. Your Father's Day Gift is still one of my favorites and deserved 2nd place in the Oral Sex comp... and 101 Words... brilliant! Even Mallory Monroe was well written and a Top 10 in the latest comp and made me sure I had lost before I had even entered.
