I have come to the conclusion that in order to get on this list I need more than 7 stories

I have 29 stories and 1 poem with 9 RRs and in 5 pages not one person mentioned me. I don't think it's the number of stories you've posted... it's who is taking the time to write on this blog. The closest I got was the kind person who said, "all the mods." Still not the same but hey... at least it was the closest I got.

Myself, this is not a complete list by any means

Adagio_Sabadicus
Misfit (no longer a member but I loved all his work)
Sprite
WSCLG
Lupus
Milik
Mysteria
JamieFuchs
PervyStoryTeller
Stephanie (the Irish cunt who didn't even think to mention me but whatever!)
Poppet
Ruthie
Buz

I will probably either edit this list or just make a new post to add any names I might have missed.

EDIT: TrinityX... How could I forget you love!!!
Being someone who had loved this genre for years thanks to Anne Rice & her Sleeping Beauty Chronicles (not for the faint of heart) I did read these as well. I liked the first book and was pissed with the ending. I knew I had to read book two which of course forces you to read book three.

My primary complaint is how shitty Christian Grey behaves. In book one it made sense but by book three he's still a petulant child for all practical purposes, and Ana is a spineless wimp.

Was the sex hot? Yes. But it was so unrealistic too.

Was the story enjoyable for me? Mostly yes. But it seemed these were two almost perfect people. Christian is smart, wealthy, and a sex fiend. Ana could cook, cut hair, and was very book smart, but had no spine to Christian. And when she did, it blows up in her face (so to speak.) And why the fuck is she still treated like a child by so many people in her life. That bugged the shit out of me as well. For those who have read it, you know what I'm talking about.

I hate reading about spineless women. I understand she was naive, but still spineless is uncalled for.

I did like the way the series ended, but I do wish it showed Ana with more spine.

As for the movie, I will not see it the theater. I might rent it, but I kinda doubt it.

And to be honest, I've read better BDSM themed stories here on Lush... but that's my opinion.
My goals are simple... Author 50, EP, maybe win a Lush contest, and Ominum badge.

Truly, my ultimate goal is to take my work and publish them so I get paid. I'd love to retire on my writing royalties.
Introduce the title of your story: The Microbrew
Genre/Category: Fantasy/Sci-Fi
Provide the link: http://www.lushstories.com/stories/fantasy-scifi/the-microbrew.aspx

1. What first inspired you to write this particular story?
Two things.
1. I read a good, short, sci-fi story that sparked an idea in my own mind (and I'm sorry to say the story title escapes me at the moment as I read so many stories.)
2. I hadn't done a sci-fi story for Lush and the idea I had would not only work, but I felt strongly it would be a fun story to write.

2. How did you come up with these characters?
I love strong female characters, and being a teacher, writing stories about teachers is always fun. Like with many of my stories, there are some ties to my real-life. I try to not repeat my character names which is why having access to Google helps (I search names if I'm stuck.) Phoebe is a lot like me in many ways. She often feels like the "fifth-wheel" in a group situation so if or when anyone pays any attention to her, it's often a surprise.
Zylen just fit with the genre and if you've read the story, his name fits the character. I got lucky with his sister's name, Zyana, it's just was the perfect complement.

3. How does it differ from some of your other stories?
My female lead is older than most, and is more "real" than a few of my other ladies. I've always said my characters are flawed, and here again, that is a common thread. But this one has elements I've never tried before and to my shock, it worked. I'm really happy I took this chance.

4. What was the most challenging thing about writing this piece?
The science-fiction/fantasy elements. Keeping it relevant to the story, without getting to... "far out". The other was the title. The working title I had wasn't right, and I knew it. However, I always have at least one other person read my work before I submit to catch my errors & he suggested the title.

5. Anything else you want to tell us about it?
I'm beyond thrilled and flattered that his too earned an RR. I had intended this to be a one-shot deal, but the feedback I've gotten already tells me I need to rethink that and continue the story. After all, we haven't met Zylen's parents yet.... hehehehe
If anyone needed to see this today, it was me... thank you so much Banes.
I'm sure I answered this before, but I do like to sleep naked after my husband and I have made love. Normally, I do wear shorts & a tank top. But here lately, with the 100+ degree days and 80+ degree nights... sleeping naked is happening more & more often.

Look, not trying to be a dick....

But how do you have your story all planned out just a few hours after the announcement? It's just been a few hours.

Is this the first you've heard of this comp and you already have a story all planned out? That's pretty impressive. Would like to know that process.

Really, you can't come with a story idea in a few hours? What's wrong with you?. Hell, I get an idea within a matter of minutes, it's just the time I take to hammer it out that makes the real difference. Some authors can plan out a story with in a few hours, but writing might take a bit longer. She didn't say she had it written, just planned. BIG DIFFERENCE.

I'm with Sprite on this one dude, you're being a dick, dick.

Stories are dealt with in the order they arrive. the fewer issues with a story, the quicker we can mod them, which means that we appreciate when writers take the time to edit before hand and not rely on us to do it for them. also, weekends tend to be slower, since many of the volunteer staff are busy. at present we have been getting a larger than normal influx of stories, which is great, but it also means that it takes a bit longer to get them on the front page. please please please be patient. thank you. smile

This.

We, the Mods, do the best we can to get stories up in a timely manner. Here lately, with the huge influx of stories it does take a bit longer. And that's assuming there are little to no errors. Stories that we must send back can take even longer. There are Mods all over the world and they are doing the best they can. We try to do 1-2 a day per mod, but real life does get in our way (I mean really what's up with that?!?)

In all seriousness. Lush has one of the best turn-arounds for stories with the quality standards we have. Yes, Gold Members do have their stories often verified before non-gold members, but we do try our best to get stories posted quickly.
If I were still single and the opportunity were to arise, then yes. I've dated all kinds of men so why not try a "little person".

I only won't now because my husband won't understand.
Pissed!!! My coffee maker dies this morning.

I really can't complain though... it was over 6 years old. But still... no coffee this morning. At least neither my husband nor I had to work today. Well... time to buy a new one.
I know an ex is an ex for a reason.

The sperm donor who helped create my wonderful, now adult son, needs to quit acting like this child is a burden. I asked him to pay for 1/2 of the vehicle registration for our son's car... a grand total of $50. He wasn't asked to pay for the car, only 1/2 the insurance after I paid it for 2 years without asking for a fucking dime. Our son is a good person, with a college degree, but in the process of trying to find a job like many other college grads.

He acts like he is a problem or a burden. Yet, he'll bend over backward for a child that is not his what-so-ever. Now, I'm not against being a father-figure to a young man who needs one, but I am against neglecting the wonderful child you fucking helped to create. Fatehrhood doesn't stop at sperm donation. I'm sure those fathers out there who actually do what they can for their child/chldren would agree that being a father is more than just fucking the mother.

My current husband, the man who makes me happy, has been more of a father to my son in the 6+ years we've been together than my ex has been my son's entire life (and again, my son is over 18.)

I love this quote!

Now, I feel like a late comer to this thread but I wanted to share my own issues. Most of my stories I just document the dialogue I hear or the scenes I see. Such was the case with "Getting Even" my latest piece. I watched & listened, they did the rest. But, "The Lost Tablet", a story that took me almost 3 months to write (and I know... for some that's fast) because when I'd try to force the story a certain direction, the character would stop talking to me. When I deleted what they didn't like, they started to share with me and I could write.

I have also found that if I don't write what I hear... they won't let me fucking sleep as they get louder and louder. I'm surprised my husband can't hear them.

At least he supports & encourages my writing.

I say #2

Nope! It's #1... I only have 2 college degrees (BA & MA).
It took me over 20 years to donate that much blood.
Quote by BethanyFrasier
Sorry, Paul! My feet ARE size 5! :-)

#4 is the lie.

...and I'm guessing #2 is your lie.

1. I had a lumpectomy when I was 28
2. I grew up on a horse farm
3. I've traveled to 8 foreign countries
4. I've visited 22 Frank Lloyd Wright-designed buildings and houses

I'm guessing #3 is your lie... I'll bet the number is higher.

1. I have three college degrees
2. I have donated over 11 gallons of blood (not all at once)
3. When I got married, my husband & I rode in a car once stolen by Bonnie & Clyde
4. I'm a natural blonde.
=d> Congrats to the top 3 & the top 10.

I won't lie, I'm bummed that I didn't make either list yet again... and I was sure I had a winner... but it just shows how amazing the quality of good writing is here. Just means I'll have to keep trying harder.
So, a page or so ago I posted about a "friend" who was whining on a public social network site about things then got all pissy with me when I called her out on her shit. Well, it seems the two-faced bitch has "unfriended" me after she posted publicly that she didn't unfriend people. I don't have a problem with people's opinions, even when I don't agree with them. But I do have problems when they are hypocritical and two-faced. Now, she didn't block me, and the way I figured out the unfriending was I tracked her through her wife/partner (no offence to my gay friends but I've heard both terms used) and saw that it said "add as a friend" instead of "friends". Her childish rants continue but now I no longer have to see them.
OMG! I just got home from a 4+ hour drive from California to Nevada via the I-15 N (no connection to the story I wrote) and the assholes I had to encounter were something else. The first was a guy who had to share with me his IQ with one hand... and one finger. Though to be honest, he might have been telling me the size of his dick.

The second was the dumbass who nearly hit my car because he didn't bother to fucking look or use a fucking turn signal before he merged into my lane. However, karma caught his dumb ass when he got stuck behind an 18-wheeler. I was laughing my ass off as I passed him.
No names will be mention, but I'm tired of people who post a whiny post on a social network site (like Facebook) then bitch when you call them on their bullshit. A "friend" did just that but claimed they didn't care what I thought. If that were true... why did this person write a 5 paragraph response?!? Pure bullshit!!! If you post it on a public site where others can comment then act like a fucking adult and accept the response. Not everyone will agree with you (DUH!!!) but you don't get to whine about the responses you don't agree with.

I typed lush into my browser and today I am smack bang in the middle of it for the first time. No idea what I done to get on there so if anyone could enlighten me I would greatly appreciate it. I have been on lush for years now and this is the first time i have ever been on there ha!

I'm sure you've been there more often than you realize. I've been told my avatar has been there multiple times but I myself have only seen it there once. I'm more interested in making the monthly lists which a few of my pieces have.
For our 5th year wedding anniversary we had prime rib at Ron's Steak House inside Arizona Charlies in Las Vegas, NV.

I was in Arizona when your birthday came along.

Hope this makes up for it... xoxo

Don't start me off...

The Best Writer, given the nature of how the Competition develops in form, content, style and the attitude of the wider Lush Membership and the opinions of Judges and... Will win.

Yeah... I was a Judge FOR YEARS! I watched writers I KNEW WERE BRILLIANT fail to place as OTHER BRILLIANT WRITERS just CAPTURED the concept in a more acceptable way... Writer's write. Our competitions are for fun. WINNING a competition doesn't make you a better writer.

Unless I win this one.

In which case it does.

xx Steph

Well I wish you luck all the same Steph... and thanks you for reading mine btw. That meant a lot to me.
