am i the only one here who actually thinks bats are cute?

Definitely not. My mum made me a bat teddy when I was little. This is the type of bat that flies over my house every evening (not always breastfeeding as in the photo though)
Thank you so much everyone! I'm still in shock from seeing the award pop up in my feed a few days ago. I am pretty pleased with how it turned out, particularly given at least half of the writing and editing was done in short bursts on my phone, but I certainly didn't expect an RR, let alone an EP.

I really have to thank Vanessa26 for inspiring me to put so much effort into this story. I had a few vague ideas before, but after exchanging messages with her, and especially after reading the amazing Nightmare Inside series she wrote with MollyDoll, I knew any story I posted in the same category as that would have to be pretty bloody good, at least to me.

In celebration of the event, here is how it (arguably) all started:

Not going to lie, "Lay down your hole for the God's massive pole" was a tagline I considered (and rejected, but only because the one I chose allows consistency between chapters and a progression that amuses me)
Thanks so much for the support everyone! I really do appreciate it. I suppose I'd better get on to chapter 2 then. By the way, the illustration is also my own, I rather like how it turned out.

That singer sounds very angry. Like he's lost the remote down the back of the sofa and can't get it back, so he's ransacking his living room.

That is certainly a very vexing situation and enough to make anyone worship Satan. I'm glad you at least have it a try though, I love that album.
I am very grateful for my latest story being awarded a Recommended Read - if a horror story filled with gay male sex, Nazis and a demon worshipping cult sounds like your thing, here it is, the first in a four part series:

Edited to add: this was also awarded an Editor's Pick!

This first chapter was heavily inspired by black metal music, if you can brave the soundtrack, here are some choice examples:

Sacrifice by Bathory - the only song explicitly mentioned in the story, this band inspired pretty much every black metal band that came after them - this song was released in 1984
Under The Sign Of The Black Mark by Bathory - if you listen to only one black metal album in your life, listen to this one.
Uinuos Syömein Sota by Havukruunu - Finnish metal from this year.
Enki by Melechesh - originally from Jerusalem, this is a very different take on black metal (and the inspiration for one of the characters being from the Middle-East)

They are coded on 2 totally different platforms (asp.net and a cloud based solution) so they aren't consistent. You are correct.

Thanks, that makes sense. Not I know I can change the URL of it's ever needed.

Would it be possible to add some sort of IF clause to the code to grab the intended destination from the request header and convert it? At the moment it just dumps everything from /stories onwards in that guff after the question mark, it would just need to strip the .aspx and change www to m.

Doesn't matter to me now, but if someone was externally promoting a story by linking to it on a blog or Twitter, anyone clicking the link on a mobile device will get the error. Personally, if I had never heard of LushStories and clicked a link purporting to be to something specific and I just get a random selection of unrelated titles and ads, I would assume I've landed on one of those annoying spam link loops and leave straight away, so you could be missing out on people discovering the best erotic story site the is and not giving you their sweet, sweet cash.

On the other hand, that could be marginal and not worth the effort, but thought I'd better mention it.
If this is a bug, please give credit to user She, as she found it.

I use the desktop site (www.lushstories.com) on my phone. I tried sending her a link to my story, copied from the My Stories page, which gave me the following URL:

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/outdoor/-campfire-revelations-.aspx

When She tried to go to it using the mobile version (m.lushstories.com) she got a 404 page not found error. I tried opening it in an incognito tab to bypass my usual settings, and sure enough it turned the URL into: https://m.lushstories.com/?url=stories%2foutdoor%2f-campfire-revelations-.aspx

Which just seems to be a list of most recent stories. If I change the www to m and remove the .aspx, making it:
https://m.lushstories.com/stories/outdoor/-campfire-revelations-
it works. Ticking the Desktop Version box in Chrome and then going to the original URL also works. So something seems to be wrong in the address translation between URLs for the two versions.

If course, this might be due to the current SSL certificate issue.
Congratulations to all the top 11! It was an enjoyable competition for us non-competing readers, I wouldn't want to be in the judges' place, there were so many great stories. Well done everyone who managed more than the 99 words on the theme that I could come up with!

Ty for the continued efforts to help. I tried the link supplied and still don't have an option for themes. And I still have no idea how my theme got changed. Do I just need to wait until Gav is back?

Ty!

If you're still having trouble, then on both my Android phone and Android tablet, on any story in the box at the top with the scoring drop down and links, there's a little switch in the bottom left to switch between light and dark, and under that a link to switch between text only and full. This has been working flawlessly for me since I noticed it last week (it switches the whole site, not just the story you're on). I find this is the easiest way to switch this on. Did that work for you?

General comments on this feature from me:
- it's awesome, I like to read stories on my phone at my desk at work while I'm waiting for processes to run, this is easy better than using print view or hovering a thumb over the site name
- I can't see a way to go to an author's profile from one of their stories - their name appears as just plain text. If they post a comment however, there babe next to the comment shows as a link which I click. Usually if I find a study I like I'll go check it other stories by the author, this means that slightly harder when in text only.
- did I say it's awesome? It's awesome.
Inspired by and in tribute to the many great entries in this competition, and instead of writing my own entry, I wrote a time travel micro that you may enjoy: Go Fuck Yourself!

I agree with Kimmi. Sure, it would be nice to win one day, but how good a story is is largely subjective, so don't be disappointed if you don't place. These competitions are great writing exercises, forcing yourself to write to different rules really helps when you go back to writing purely for yourself.
Not sure if this is allowable but:

303. L'empire du côté obscur - IAM

Which translates as "(The) Empire of the Dark Side", so if acceptable "side" is next.
(Yes, it's Star Wars themed French hip-hop, and it's fucking awesome)
I'm not entering the Time Travel story competition due to lack of time (oh, the irony). Instead, I invite you to travel through time into my teenage mind for the final part of this series - it has school uniforms, a graveyard and bondage!

The penultimate story in this series got a bit weird. It was weirder, with something involving a kettle, but I couldn't work out what I was talking about when I edited it the other day, so I took that out. Anyway, it has a bit of wet and messy, a bit of bondage, some anal, and some pain (good pain):

1950s BBC World Service accent.

My natural accent is very similar, because I listened to BBC radio comedy shows from the 60s religiously as a teenager... and still today. However, I suffer from that weird British middle-class affliction of a sympathetic accent, so if I go to London for a few days I acquire a cockney twang, when at University I had a touch of Brummie, and I currently have a tendency to say "no worries" and "righto"...
