Definitely got the quietly barking vibe going.?

However, she's rather too blonde, too gorgeous and too young. Bit like Her Lovely Spriteliness! ?

Curvy, Olivia Wilde is Celtic I beileve. Don't know if she is quietly barking or not. I think she should play you.

Some fine entries over there on Blue, comp-related and otherwise. Just submittd a flash horror over there. This one is pretty chill and contemplative, the next one will be scary and bloody and creepy (I hope).

Speaking of creepy, our familiy's 31 days of horror movies begins TONIGHT! Don't know what we'll start with. The Netflix Haunting of Hill House might be a good start. Great book. The first movie they made from it was really good too. The remake sucked.

Have not been following the Red contest, as I am suffering a bit of comp fatigue. Haven't there been quite a few more comps than usual lately?

Arg, Mondays. Gotta get into gear. Köffee please.

I wanted to like Maniac too, but I stopped six episodes in and I haven't been back. I am looking forward to the new season of Black Mirror though.

Watched the first episode last night. Don't know if I'll keep going or not.

I wish fucking Game of Fucking Thrones would come back fucking on.
And Angela Lansbury was the original Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd on Broadway!

Who should play me: Sam Rockwell.

Who idiots will cast to play me: Henry Winkler.

Last Mets game of the year in an hour. sad. Thor is on on the mound. Kòffëė me!
Hey, no one's made köffee! I will ask Terrence for instructions and give it a shot, and promise not to put dirt in it this time. Hope it will suffice.

Down to 14 stories here, two of which I rewrote and resubmitted. One got an RR post-rewrite! Like four years after I posted it. Deleteing all the Shards allows some of my other stories to get some air, apparently.

Go read the new "Pearl" if you are so inclined. Guess what it's about? https://www.lushstories.com/stories/straight-sex/pearl.aspx

Hope everyone is well. Hey, this köffee is pretty good.

Tough call. Probably Bryce or Zion, though I liked Arches and Canyonlands as well. Rocky Mountain was nice once we got far enough away from the corridor. Had a nice day hike or two in there. The Appalachian Parks (Shenandoah, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Great Smoky Mountain) were all nice but the Southwest ones blew me away in some cases. Really, they all have their charms. Just have to find the ones that suit your personality.

Though I will say (girding myself for possible controversy) that the Grand Canyon is overrated. We much preferred Bryce and Zion.

The Grand Canyon? With the asphalt walkway around the rim? And the busloads of tourists? And ALL THE CARS? A majestic place, but not an involving nature experience.

I will have to visit the Canadian parks someday.
I was gonna take offence, but then I remebered all the "how big are your tits" and "what color are your panties" and "would you like to sit in a hot tub of cum" (my favorite thread of all time) in the Ask the Gals section, and chilled.

We're not all assholes, though.

Wow. I've hit quite a few US National Parks and some of the better known Canadian ones (honestly, yours are better in many cases) but I'm not keeping score or anything. Visited two US ones this summer alone.

Evening whiskey please. Canadian Rye on the rocks.

Which were your favorite US ones? I've been to most of the Southwestern National Parks. Canyonlands/Arches (two parks really close together) are my all-time favorites. Great Sand Dunes (where I got married) is a favorite too. Rocky Mountain National Park might be #1 but it is SO crowded. Love Bryce Canyon. I haven't been to Joshua Tree but I've been told it is spectacular, and it's next on the list.

I am sure that Mark Twain railed against Russian Thistle in some angry tirade, but I googled it and can't find it. I remebered laughing when I heard it (on the radio).

FFS I wanna write but I can't!! I've posted a story every month of 2018 but September is slipping between my fingers! Send help! Send inspiration! NOT NUDES. Well, nudes are welcome except dick pics. Wait, what have I gotten myself into?

Hey to everyone. smile

Tea, please.

They will still be around, just not here. Besides, didn't you get the sense they were starting to define my writing? Blank slate time. Well, blank-ish. I cannot believe you've written a story a month. I am, as my daughters would say, jelly (means jealous, for all you old people). Write a flash!!! You still have 3 days.

Thanks for the props on the horror, Julie. The new one is more contemplative than the first three. But there is a real similarlty to erotica and horror. Same rhythms, same focus on sensation and feels. And I don't have to keep coming up with synonyms for cock! Meat, tool, thickness, hardness, length, manhood, erection, yadayadayada.

Sara, you read a bunch of them, and thanks for doing so!

Köffee me barkeep!

This is how you start a marketing push. You're already crushing it on that front (see: you better read my stuff before I start charging you all, hahah)

Seriously though, this idea sounds completely awesome.

I love the idea of being able to read them in a random order, other than the multi-parters, from a creative standpoint. The novelty alone is awesome, and the fact that you're a fantastic writer allows you to pull off some really wicked stuff.

But I know people that would likely never come visit this site that would almost certainly buy your stand-alone novel if I recommended it and told them "Hey, go read this story about this couple that's into bdsm. It's super filthy, but it's also very honest and sweet too."

They would almost certainly love it. But they'd also ask me what the fuck I just made them read because 50 shades is the filthiest thing they can possibly imagine. You'd make some sweet ass moolah, and I'd get the satisfaction/chuckles of watching them have to handle the new reality that they are now stuck with. Everyone wins.

Self-publishing on Amazon seems like a beast in and of itself.

I wish you Godspeed on what could be a large to enormous undertaking

Large to enormous undertaking pretty much describes it. smile Heh.

So, the Shards are gone. They will reappear on Amazon at some point, hopefully a few months. I went from 27 RRs to 11 in one fell swoop. From 59 stories to 22 (for those doing the math, I deleted 3 RRs and 11 stories several months ago). Ouch. It was kinda painful to do, but I wanted them fully off the internet before I self-pub them.

The 8 longer stories connected to the narrative will be gone soon: I couldn't bring myself to delete an EP and 3 Series Awards. But the departure is imminent.

I will keep writing erotica, though I am taking a short break from it.

It occurs to me that I might chronicle the whole process of self-publication on Amazon on this thread, as a help to others making the attempt. What pitfalls and successes I encounter, what to do and what not to do (trying to prove I own the rights to the stories, even though they were published under another name, and have been stolen and posted on less ethical erotica sites, is pitfall number #1, one of the reasons I am deleting everything now).

If anyone is interested, drop me a line.

It's been a fun ride. Thanks Lush, for giving these weird little stories a home.

Good morning. I'll get Bertha up and running for everyone. I'll even clean some mugs and wipe down the bar a bit. Today is the day we take my boy to Ohio. He moves into his apartment tomorrow and starts school on Monday. It sure is going to be different without him around. I hope that being on his own helps him mature a bit though. Now I think I'll have some hot tea while I write him a letter of how proud I am of him. By the way we have fine lickers and some beer if anyone is ready for that. Enjoy your hump day.

Thanks for getting the köffee going, Tanya. I'm sure the nest emptying by one is a bittersweet experience. If your son was anything like me, being on his own will make him a llittle less mature at first, and then mature up real quick, when, say, rent is due. smile It is a very swet gesture to write him a letter.

Racy, I've not met you, but also a nice gesture on your part to foot the bill for a fancy gold membership for Grace.

Jim, congrats on being picked by the mysterious algorythm that picks stories. I've never figured it out on either site.

Larry, enjoy the park (and being able to eat again). Ping, enjoy that huge breakfast. My own breakfast consists of...köffee!

Hey Gill! Hey Bill! Hey, that rhymes!

EDIT: The Shards are gone. I write a little on why, and what their future may be, on the Shardoverse thread: https://forum.lushstories.com/yaf_postsm3128575_The-Shardoverse.aspx#3128575

Thanks, Lush, for giving these weird experimental stories a home. And for all the comments and PMs that made them better (I'm looking at you, Bill).

If you are looking for a good FREE replacement, I recommend LibreOffice. It is a free product that has been around for many years. It has been developed by many who freely contribute their time and skill. Check out this site to download------ https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/ I recommend version 6.0.6 It is their most recent stable version for "conservative" computer folks. If you are a daring whiz you could go for the 6.1.1 version but it will undoubtedly have some bugs to be worked out.

Kee

Yeah, I use LibreOffice for home use and have no complaints. It plays well with all versions of Word.

I use Office 365 at work because they make me (and because I teach certain aspects of it as part of my job).
True. Actually, I look at the friends activity feed to find out, but I love to see what people post on the blog thing. I wish it were a bigger part of the Lush ecosystem.

ToF: You always go straight to the left column (past all the personal stuff) to see all of a friend's recent posts.
Crappy day. And it's not even noon.

As tempting as a shot of burrbin would be, I will stick to köffēê.

Lotsa good comp entires continuing to show up on Blue. I don't think I will enter, my plate is rather full in terms of writing (and everything else). I do have 3 horror flash over there.

I hope everyone is well.

It's really, really, really good!

Almost beer time here...

Thanks for the props, CurvyGirl! I'll have a beer with you and Lulu.
I would not bother with the upgrade. They went from menus to a "ribbon" of commands between these two versions I think, but the functionality didn't change much, it's mostly cosmetic. They are saying that there's no more support for Word 2010 after 2020, but when is the last time you had to upgrade Word, or call for support? If you are happy with Word 2010, I say stick with it.
Congrats on the famous poem, Tanya! I think I read it when it first came out. Well deserved. And the audio helps too smile. Thanks for getting the coffee going too.

Happy birthday, sprite! Hope you had a good one. Did you get any kitty toys for a present. I sincerely hope so.

Lotsa good writing on the Blue site, comp entries and otherwise. I still don't have a comp idea, though I do have another horror flash sumitted to the modular-units there.

Tired. As. Fuck. Not much sleep. Köffee please, and keep it coming.

I did enjoy reading What Maisie Knew by Henry James. That was pretty much it.

I have no clue what to write for the SS contest. Actually, I still haven't hashed out the Lush contest yet, but it is not due until Oct. 11th. The SS contest is due Oct. 7th.

Anyway, let me have a cuppa jäva, Rump man.

Best of luck to all.

Layla loves What Maisy Knew. She's much smarter than me. Clearly. She likes George Elliot too (I've never read her).

Sprite, she wrote:
Molly's bit is gorgeous. everything leading up to it is unbearable.

Me, I wrote: Amen! Her Royal Spriteness is, as usual, approximately 100% correct. BUT, (big but) in fairness to old Leopold Bloom,it could be worse...it could have been written by, Proust. ;) smile

I agree with you and sprite that Molly's soliloquy is the beating heart and soul of that book. Though I like the rest of it too. Particularly that giant period.

There was a great article in the NY Times about Ulysses this year. Turns out there's no final proof of the book. Every edition is different, and I guess errors abound. A guy trying to come up with a final, definative proof of the book was kinda driven mad by the process (though mostly by arrogant scholars attacking his work) (he's pretty arrogant himself).

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/12/magazine/the-strange-case-of-the-missing-joyce-scholar.html

The guy I personally find most unreadable is Henry James. Too dense - my mind veers off after a few pages. I read him in college because they made me.

I have an idea for the SS comp. We shall see.

Köffeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

No-one has, Grace, except a bunch of PhD students.

I am firmly of the belief that Finnegan's Wake is unreadable, and anyone who says they've read it is lying. I tried. I even tried reading it while stoned. Which helps, but not enough.

Nice to see some of the comp participants continuing to hang out at the bar. Let me buy you a beer, Pen Man. Grace too, if she likes.

THE COMPETITION IS POSTED ON STORIESSPACE!!!

https://www.storiesspace.com/competitions/stories-space-dirty-martini-420.aspx

This is such a good thing.

We need EVERYBODY to embrace this. We've been trying for two-and-a-half years to reboot this competition. Let's not lose it again.

I personally like the conditions and criterion Maggie has placed on this comp. 420. Happy Pot Day or Hitler's Birthday, you decide.

Gots ta put me thinkin' cap on...

I got nuttin.

I am NOT saying I won't enter. I just have no idea what I will write. The conditions are, um, interesting.

I am writing up a storm, however. I've got so many ideas flopping around like fish in my head. It's exciting.

Bourbon please. Three fingers. Heh.
Brunette, all my life. The only blonde girlfriend I ever had was my very first girlfriend - a blonde cheerleader, no less.

Extrovert or introvert?
Bourbon is my usual drink, so in a glass. I'll drink beer from the bottle or can. I don't do soda.

Try something new on a menu or the food you know you like?

Barkeep, just some ice water for me, please. A few ice cubes to crunch would be nice too. Thanks.

Have A Great Day Everyone!

This is one of my fave Zilla pix of all time. And I have quite a collection. Thank Ping!

I am afire about writing lately, which is really cool and fun. Editing the shards, writing new horror flash, submitting older stories I never got around to submitting before (mostly sci-fi/horror) to magazines. It's exciting. I don't think I've been this psyched about writing since I started writing erotica.

Finding a bunch of really good fiction over on Blue. Lots of it form regulars here - Larry, Ping, Gill, Sara, our esteemed bartender Bill, the unquenchable CurvyG, probably more I haven't uncovered yet (Scott, do you post there?). So I am psyched about a comp there. I am def out of the comp over here on Red, but depending on theme I might give a Blue comp a shot.

Isn't writing fun!?

Hope your doc visit goes well, Tonya.

I need lotsa köffee!
The Nun. It sucked. I like the Conjuring franchise, but stick a fork in it, it's done.
I don't cyber (anymore, though there was a time...), but I do still enjoy normal chats with Lushites. smile

I am helping my youngest son get ready to leave Sunday for his new job in California. I jokingly complain that having two sons come home after graduating from college has been a hardship. They can be annoying but I am sad to see him go.

It's a great job and he is very happy, that is all that counts. It will also give me an excuse to take a trip to California. I'm just feeling a bit sad. I will miss him, he has my sense of humor.

I'll take a beer, preferably Canadian and a lot of cocktail umbrellas. I think I will try and drown my sadness. As I have tried to explain to the other males in my family I can be happy and proud of him but also sad that he is leaving, and going to the other side of the country.

Cheers everyone!

Bittersweet news, but I am happy for him, and happy you will get to visit him in Cali. Also happy he shares your kind sense of humor, we need more of that in the world. I hope you are well, and I wish him the best.

In a couple years mine will be leaving the nest as well.

Cheers, Gill. Life goes on.
