Personally, I think that if you focus on views, comments and scores as some kind of score board as to how well you write, you are stifling yourself. It's like that old proverb, stabbing yourself many times and then wondering why you are unable to move forward. You'll find yourself catering to it and it becomes embarrassingly obvious. You become a cliche kind of writer. But, that may be all you want, you'll have to decide. There is absolutely nothing wrong with only wanting that.

I love readers, votes and comments. When they are good, they are definitely a source of encouragement. I won't lie about that. But, focusing on that isn't going to make you a better writer. Work on writing well.

I've said it before, I ain't too proud to beg for readers. I'll mass mail in a minute. I appreciate when some of my friends do it because I rarely get to the front page. If they think they have something good going on, by all means make it easy for me to find. Honestly, I find it hard to respect a writer that is too proud/self assured to need it or not confident enough to have enough faith to be bold enough and actively market their own stuff. That's a personal side bar for me though and I know a lot of people will object to that view. It's your call though. Honesty, I know some really good writers on here that just don't need to do anything but press submit. People are waiting for them to write something/anything. I'm not one of them, wish I was but I'm not. There is no wrong or right. If the writing is good, those that appreciate the note will let you know. Those that don't, for whatever reason, can opt out.

Anyway...

If you're always reaching to write better stories, you will get better and more committed readers. As you progress they will grow along with you and you will pick up more. Your audience will find you. Don't concentrate on being prolific; concentrate on producing pieces that truly reflect what you are attaining to be as a writer.

Whatever you decide, have fun. All that other stuff won't matter so much.

But, it's just my personal view. I'll sneak back off into my little corner of Lush now.

I see her shaped themes.
Once again lost in her.
Fantasy and realities dreamed.

(I hope I did that right.)

I think you have the most important concept of what this poetic style emphasizes. Very many people fail to see the beauty of taking something unrelated and solidly joining them within the restrictions that words supply. So you have the most complicated aspect of the form figured out. That's where the art is. The word counting is a peace of cake.

That phrase: her shaped themes, that is simply beautiful.

Welcome aboard.
I saw Jack Reacher, The Accountant and Dr. Strange--all in one day and in the same theater. I was only supposed to see The Accountant. They served food and alcohol at your seat. No one asked us to leave.

Fuck this cancer!

I'm with you on that. Fuck cancer.
Warm, comforting hugs for you.
I am so fully wrapped in the security of love today, inspite of the disappointing American political climate and all the little irritating things that need to be eradicated. I'm a new mother, Godmother that is. She's beautiful. So, there is still hope in the world.

I'm thinking that you will never be able to guess what her name is...?
This is such a great thread. As a military brat, I know the sacrifices involved--I'm sure it's just a small portion of them though.

Thanks to all men that serve our country. They are the true modern day American Warriors, men of honor and brotherhood.
Very few things make me cry and get angry at the same time. If I do, it is definitely because I'm frustratingly standing in front of a wall I can't move. For the first time I look at my son and think, maybe I had him in the wrong country--as hard as I worked to get here. I'm not just afraid of scared and insensitive members of law enforcement misstepping and taking his life or all the other unforeseeable traps, now I'm worried about an entire country restructuring itself to crush him before he has a chance to fully develope. Why do things seem to be going backwards instead of forwards?!

In my probably not so humble opinion, seduction should be the main element of most erotic stories no matter the category. Nothing beats a well-paced build to a climactic sexual encounter. It's unfortunate that many authors don't have the patience (or maybe skill? I don't know) to write great seduction stories - They just immediately toss their characters into bed (or the broom-closet, or washroom stall, or wherever).

I have to agree with some of these points. Timing and patience separates erotica from porn. But remember, writing is a growing process. Some are up there, some are down there and some will feel stuck in the middle. But, everyone is still learning. Only writing can improve writing. It takes time to find out what will work for you--try many approaches. You will learn what you need to tell your stories. Each one may prove to have different needs. Trust yourself as you discover.

There are no new stories, there are only new ways to tell them. That's truly the only part you create.

Relax, don't underthink it but definitely don't over think it. You will feel it when it's working. No one will have to tell you. First you will have to endure and be willing to take chances. Seriously, relax.
I always try to vote and I try to take my time with comments. For me, comments are actually more significant. I make it a point to never just be "nice" but actually comment on the story itself, and never lie. We all can differentiate the nice uh-huh comments from the I really took my time and looked at this comments. Although, I appreciate anything. Anything is much better than nothing.

I do read quit a few stories on my phone. It gives me issue when voting and commenting, so I always say I'll do it on my notebook when I get home. I forget to go back and do it later. I feel really guilty about that, and I'm making an effort to stop that. Writers need to feel the support and encouragement. Just reading is not enough.

Unwanted guests...
Oh my God, can't you see how bored and tired we are with you.
Now I know why your wife won't let you come home.
You don't have to go home (or even to that little area you sleep in on your truck),
but the lights are going off.
You need to get the hell up out of here.
