If I had a cock to suck right now I'd be shouting it from the bloody rooftops.
For the 'Stories View' setting, should Quick Reads be added to the options?

I noticed this in my quest for the Prolific Writer badge. My Gay Male story got far less comments, votes, reads than my stories in other categories. And I noticed same for other stories in that category. That is exactly why I chose to write my comp piece there. I would like to bring more reads, and thus understanding, to this category as well. I did have straight male readers tell me they wouldn't read my story. And my reads are lowest yet compared to my other comp entries. But, I, like the other authors stated about their own entries, am still happy with my entry. smile The comps make us all better writers!

I didn't actually know there was a 'Prolific Writer' badge. I'm nowhere near anyway. I don't even think I've written as many stories as there are categories.

Thanks for writing in the Gay Male category, even when you had readers say they wouldn't read. I once entered a comp (not specifically LGBT-themed) with a Gay Male piece, and I didn't even get the 10 votes necessary to be considered. It sucked, because I worked really hard on it and thought it was really good (it was later awarded an RR, so it must have been decent).

That's why I want to see more awesome stories in the category—so that more people are inclined to go looking there for their next hot read.

Keep fighting the good fight, lol.

It reminded me of a Pink Panther cartoon with an instant hole, but I couldn't find it. Apparently it was a recurring joke by that studio though:

Is this an entry?

I have a question:

Why would a guy want to taste his own cum?

The only logical response is if the boyfriend/partner/husband/play thing spots a cum shot
on his girlfriend/partner/wife/play thing and has a taste to find out it doesn't seem to share the same flavour notes.

Omg that hoe is cheating.

It takes a refined palate to discern the subtle differences. Practice is key.

Hi Clum, sorry if I seemed a bit rude the other day.

Not at all, mate. Bygones. Thanks for playing the game.
The link in the original post is broken - might wanna update it.
And here's one thing I consider "very clever" (a favourite from years ago):

Here's an example of two things I would deem to be "moderately clever", to give you an idea of what I'm looking for:

1. The world's one and only knighted penguin lives at Edinburgh Zoo, and his name is Sir Nils Olav. (This is the kind of thing that might earn a bonus point, because I'd probably want to see what that penguin looked like).

2.
Clum's Golden Giveaway - Part 1

The spirit of charity has, for no apparent reason, started coursing through my veins. So I've decided to run a competition with the chance to win a Gold Membership to Lush.

This is Part 1, and Part 2 will follow next week. There will be one Gold Membership awarded for each part (so two chances to win).

To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is entertain me. I demand from you one of the following, to be posted in this thread:

A. One thing very clever. (5 points)

B. Two things moderately clever. (2 points each)

C. Three things very dull indeed. (1 point each)

These “things” can be pretty much anything - an interesting fact, an amusing anecdote, an entertaining joke. You could share a little ditty, or something utterly ridiculous. Images and videos are also allowed.

Bonus Points

1. This game is inspired by one of my favourite novels. You will receive one bonus point if you reference that novel (and I understand the reference) without explicitly saying what it is.

2. You will receive one bonus point if anything you post makes me laugh out loud.

3. If something that you post is so clever that it makes me want to look it up and learn more, you will receive one bonus point.

Maximum: 8 points

Rules
• Each member may enter only once, and can only select one of A, B or C (no mixing and matching). State which option you are taking in your post.
• I will decide how "clever" a thing is. For example, if you submit something as "moderately clever" but I deem it very dull, I will only award it 1 point.
• Existing Gold Members can still enter and, if they win, gift the prize to another member of their choosing.
• If there is a tie, the winner will be the person who posted what I judge to be the most clever thing.
• The competition will close on Wednesday 8th July. I will lock the thread when it is over, and announce the winner shortly after.

Note: This is not an official Lush Stories competition. This is done entirely off my own back. If you don't like my rules, don't play my game.

I'm sixty-five-years old, so it doesn't matter anymore.

You're, what, twenty-nine? Just wait a few decades, you'll see.

Just a joke, mate. No idea what you look like so couldn't possibly "rate" you, even if I wanted to.

Since I've got you, what exactly do you want people to discuss in this thread? There was no question in the OP. Is it just whether or not we should do this? The ethics of it? Our own experiences of it?

Thank you, fellow furry animal. I saw that but wasn't sure if it was the right thing. It says at the footer, but the stories I was looking at had the link at the top. Anyway, I'll try it.

It should link it at the top and bottom. I think the wording just hasn't been updated.

Awwww, that's a shame! I date older men and 40 is *Chef's kiss* prime time.

Quit while you're ahead. Go out at the top of your game.

Joking aside, I think knowing the age at which I would die could be a real motivator to get shit done. If I'm gonna die at 40 (a bit more than ten years away) then I've got a lot to pack in.
The option to do so is at the bottom of the story submission screen:

"slipping in a late entry" *Grins* sorry, C-man, but i'm going T with this one.

Also underrepresented in the comp, so... awesome!
I'm kinda disappointed how few of the entries are in the Gay Male category so far. The competition is very dominated by Lesbian stories.

Don't get me wrong, a lot of those stories are phenomenal—some of the best I've read—but I had hoped for a bit more of a spread and, in particular, to see some more great quality Gay Male pieces as we don't tend to see as many RR- or EP-quality stories in there.

If anyone is thinking of slipping in a late entry, consider going Gay, just for this comp. ;)

I don't know how the moderators do it all.

Completely unintentionally, I guess I have to thank the “Rainbows” Story Competition creators for being secondary editors.

I’m somewhat unreasonably proud of this story, even if it doesn’t win any awards. I hope others like it, but I’m going to like it regardless.

Yeah, mine came in at about 3800 at first. I was really reluctant to cut any particular part of the story, so it forced me to really think about the way I phrase things and to be more succinct. I liked the outcome.

Pride in something you spent time and energy creating should never be "unreasonable". If we don't enjoy our own writing, what's even the point?

I will read your piece when I get a chance. smile

ok, then, looks like i'll be entering this one...

Great news for everyone, even if it drastically reduces everyone else's chances of getting some prize money.

Super excited to read your entry. Sure it will be a knock-out.
