24KB every two seconds that's 0.7MB per minute 40MB an hour - just by having your browser screen open! It's no wonder people's mobile data is being eaten up just by browsing the site
The error pages (404 & 500) would not be included within this total.
You were seeing an isolated incident with a configuration problem with SignalR (which is now fixed).
Although you did highlight this problem to me, you're better off filling out the contact us form in future. This will ensure I get notification of the problem as soon as possible.

I've noticed a small but significant problem in the new release. The little black message boxes. I can enter a message in one and either click SEND or press Enter. I get NO indication that anything happens. The message box just sits there. Some friends have told me they DO get the message. We are using the Google Safe Browsing API to verify safe domains before posting links to images.

I have just published a new version of the site that addresses some of the issues caused by Apple's fuck up (iOS 6). I am expecting a few teething problems, so please be gentle. This change effects chat, private messages and online messages (black boxes).
This release also includes:
* Add a story to your reading queue from the list view. Hover over a story and you should see a clock appear in the bottom left hand corner, click this to add to your reading queue.
* The ability to hide your published stories
* Invisible logins should stick between multiple page refreshes
* A slew of other bug fixes

I think this idea has merit. The biggest exposure a story might get is its time on the home page, its unfair that some would get short changed due to the efficiency of our story mods!
So the way I would do it would be as new stories are verified, they are allocated a display date whereby the last story on the page has been on the home page for at least x hours. My only concern would be we get more stories per day than the allocated display time. Say we let a story have a guaranteed time of 24 hours, thats 25 (25 stories per page) new verified stories per day. Anymore will get queued up for the next day, creating a snow ball of stories.

I have reported the domain to the host and it has been pulled down already. I have written to his ISP, however their home page doesnt even load for me so not holding out much hope there.
