Well, I thought one pretty good reason not to was so that some psycho stalker couldn't track you down after they fell hopelessly and dangerously in love with seeing your face posted here, and then pursuing you half way across the world so they could eat your kidneys with some lima beans and mango chutney after making brutal and passionate love to one of your socks, and then wearing your poo as a fetching goatee.

Yes, absolutely. I've had two in the last three years and I am still good friends with both. In fact, still interact with each almost every day. I think the key for me is that my husband fulfills all of my emotional needs and is my best friend and soul mate (as cheesy as that sounds). That really goes a long way in dampening any emotional fixations I might have developed. And the fact my husband knew all about both (and even helped me to be with each lover) took away the rush of having some secret, illicit affair (which, I believe, is a huge component in people getting fixated during affairs). Wow. I think I need to consider these answers...maybe I'm not taking long enough. When I write, it takes me, at most, about two hours to write and proof a story, and about ten minutes to write and proof a poem. I get distracted too easily, otherwise.
I have no idea what I'm going to write sometimes; I might have the concept or a character in mind, but I only solidify my plot as I'm actually typing. I think having this sort of impulsive tendency works for me most of the time, because when I try to outline a story first, I feel a sense of writer's block trying to go with it. My true stories were, without a doubt, the hardest to write. I just basically let it flow oherwise and, to me, that feels more comfortable.
