I wasn't saying the rest of the world is punishing them, nor that the US is the leading party in imposing sanctions on North Korea. I said that that is how Kim and his predecessors have used the economic measures against NK and the military cooperation of the US with SK in their propaganda, which is a large part of what helps them repress their people and has kept them in the saddle.
Of course it would be better if he wasn't a dictator and if he didn't have nuclear weapons and the missiles needed to deploy them. There is however only so much the world can do against a regime without actually invading on their territory. Doing that in North Korea was never a real option, because it would immediately draw China and South Korea into a conflict that has the potential to quickly escalate into an all out war between two superpowers. And that too, is too high a price to pay because let's face it, Iran doesn't need Kim. If they really want to build a bomb, they can. Terrorists don't need North Korea to build a simple nuclear device that could wipe out a city centre either. All they need is enough uranium or plutonium and the internet.

I think nuclear war is too high a price for that.
Kim got this far because in spite of what the rest of world did to try to stop it, he managed to get it done anyway. In a way, everything the rest of the world did has only helped the Kim dynasty stay on the throne by giving them proof that it is the world, led by America, that keeps punishing them for wanting to be a strong nation.

For once I agree with you. There was nothing offensive in my previous post, and I wasn't stating my view on capitalism and fascism, but widely accepted definitions (look them up in merriam-webster or any decent dictionary) that I choose to use to support my opinions. I don't mind if my posts are deleted if they violate the forum rules, but do no like it when their meaning and intention is altered to something more palpable and inclusive. It is my opinion that it's not moderating but [s]meddling[/s] tinkering. I will go on debating in this forum, but I expect to be treated as an adult and not as a child, [s]who needs to be corrected[/s] whose posts need happier, more inclusive alterations every third sentence.

Of course there are. I think it's a waste of good money, because the results probably are no surprise (polls have already shown that the great majority of Australians supports same sex marriage) and the results are not binding. The real decision to legalise same sex marriage can only taken in the place where all law is decided, parliament. Why not just get on with it there?

Regardless of how you define the political spectrum, if you use my definition, Fascists are as left-wing as Socialists. Nazi Germany is responsible for six million murders of innocent civilians. Socialism and Communism are responsible for over 200 million senseless murders. (And that doesn't count the murders committed by the North Koreans, North Vietnamese, Cubans, Venezuelans, or Cambodians.) Socialism is the greatest evil ever conceived by man, and it's not even a close contest. Free-market capitalism has lifted billions of people out of poverty in the last century alone.
I respect your opinion, but I personally believe that you are confusing economic systems with political ideologies. Capitalism is an economic system, fascism is an ideology. I believe they go hand in hand very well, and I think Nazi Germany has proven that.
My view is that the term National Socialism refers to an economic system where everyone's works for the benefit of the state, as opposed to real socialism where everyone works for the benefit of the community and the people. It is my belief that the National(ist) part is what it was about, and I also believe that the term "Socialist" was added because it appealed to the working class, but it is my belief that it was in fact only propaganda.
The terms right and left originate from post-revolution France. Although they are often associated with capitalism vs socialism, they actually define conservatism vs progressiveness. In French parliament after the revolution; members who opposed change and the speed at which it was happening were seated on the right of the president, members who wanted change sat on his left side.
