Since the US have a regular army nowadays, the need for militias no longer exists, therefore the second amendment has become obsolete. I'd scrap it. I would not completely ban firearms, but I'd raise the minimum age for possession to 21, make assault weapons illegal, background checks, serial numbers on weapons and registration of ownership mandatory. I'd also make accepting payment from commercial and commercially sponsored organisations illegal for (candidate) members of the House and congress, they should represent their voters, not the big corporations and their lobbies.
