Lisa and Liz for prose. Principessa and DanielleX are tops too. How can one ignore Milik?

Thank you for noting me and putting me in such good company.
Everything passes. When things are bad, remember it will end and when they are good, enjoy it.

It would be really really nice if you could edit your comments on stories. So many times I make mistakes and I need to delete the whole message and start again.

It's even more annoying when typing on a phone.

Please, Please, Please could an EDIT button be made.

Hugs,
Mysteria

You could copy your comment before deleting it and then paste in a new comment, making your corrections before posting again.
I try to "like" comments on my stories and don't always write a response as well if I don't have time. I wonder if the "like" button could stay changed from blue to grey once you have done that so that you don't repeat liking the same comment.

Still think the banner on the front page that features members or highlights comps should also be a place to feature a randomly picked EP or RR story. Have it cycle like it does now but just add a story pick to the mix. Would be a good way to actually recommend a good story to new visitors on the front page. You could even have it feature the last winner of a comp or something like that too.

All good ideas. To add a tweak to it, perhaps the top ten stories of the last competition could be cycled. We have buttons for EP and RR stories on the front page, but new readers do not know what they are. Perhaps a short description under each of these buttons would draw more attention to them.

I know Gav's been playing with the block feature for a while, but can the block be two-fold? By that I mean, if you have someone blocked, then you shouldn't be able to send that person PMs.

It's rather foolish to go through the effort of blocking someone only to send them scathing PMs to which they can't respond.

Some people might like being able to vent and not allowing any response. Your suggestion seems more fair.

I said way too much. I should never have voiced my opinion.

Fixed that for you.
When people continue to submit the same version of a story without making the corrections that have been suggested by story moderators that is laziness and selfishness. It wastes the moderators' volunteered time and disrespects them and the process. Perhaps that is stupid as the above post suggested because the story will not correct itself and showing that you are not willing to put in any work does not encourage moderators to spend time helping you. Story moderators are happy to help writers edit their work and provide appropriate resources to get that done. Mod shopping by resubmitting with little or no work done insults their intelligence.
I was a senior story moderator for about two years and admit that my standards were and are high. RRs are not handed out like jellybeans as a treat. Sometimes the moderator verifying the story is so impressed that it happens immediately. Sometimes the RR is awarded later by a different moderator who read the story on their own time. Of course different people have different tastes and that is only human. RRs are meant to bring attention to stories that show talent and might otherwise be overlooked, particularly if not written by a high profile author here. As Steph said, any story moderator who handed RRs out indiscriminately would have been chastised.

As to some competition entries getting RRs when the competition is over, there is a reason for this. Story mods are on the competition judging panel. It would not be appropriate for them to award RRs before the competition is closed and the top ten stories are announced by Nicola. The panel members judge all entries on an equal basis.

No. All is well in my world. I'm not angry with anyone.

Of course Buz is right. I wanted to add a couple of points. The best way to ensure that your story is approved and posted by the moderator reviewing it is to edit carefully and comply with site guidelines. The fewer spelling, grammar, and formatting errors in your story, the more likely it will be approved. Stories can be delayed because they are sent back to writers to make corrections that are beyond the amount of tinkering that moderators will do for you.

As well, make sure your story meets the minimum but does not exceed the maximum word count for a single story. If your story is part of a series, remember that only one story can be submitted daily. You should not submit any part until the previous part has been approved and posted to maintain the story sequence.

I wrote a cheat sheet for story submission some time ago when I was a story moderator. It can be seen here:

https://www.lushstories.com/forum/yaf_postst26962_Advice-before-submitting-a-story.aspx

Finally, as Buz mentioned, there are dozens of stories submitted each day. The hours of time to review them is given by volunteers. A thank you when you receive your approval note is appreciated by those who do the work.
I guess that I am one of the writers who has the view that Verbal mentioned, one different from his.

For me description to give the reader a sense of the time and place is important, as well as some idea about the characters. I hate what we generally call the laundry list for character description (e.g. 5'6", blonde, green eyes, 36C breasts and long legs, or some similar list for a male character including penis length) because I think it is lazy writing. I do like to include information about the characters as the story is told to paint a picture in the reader's mind. I might describe the room they are in or the meal they are eating, with the intention of appealing to and using all of the senses, not just turning people on with graphic connect the dots sex. Readers have remarked that I really take them into the story.

I think that either Verbal's way or mine can work. It really depends on the ability of the writer to convey their story in a meaningful manner.

Seems the Republicans are doing well in Iowa....xo

This is not the election. The primaries/caucuses are part of the process to choose the party nominees.
I have co-written several stories. What worked in both situations was to share the stories in google docs and work on it in tandem. Most of the time this was done in the order of the story, but occasionally one of us would be inspired and write a section that would fit in later. I think it is important for you to be working on the same document to maintain the flow and continuity of the story and see if there are jarring changes. I should mention that we did not necessarily write for our own genders in the stories, carrying on with the story as it unfolded. You will have to see what works for you and who should post the story as it will appear on their profile page with the co-author credited on the story page.

I hope that helps.

I used to be that way. But my livelihood/career path kinda demands that I don't do that. I've really had to learn to step outside of myself and just tell people that some shit just isn't okay. And I've learned to incorporate that into other aspects of my life. It's uncomfortable, and it can be very mentally/emotionally taxing, especially for someone like me who would just rather shut down in the face of conflict, but it's definitely worth it.

I have also learned to pick my battles. If all it's gonna do is waste time and energy that could be spent elsewhere, then it's really not worth it.

And if I find myself in a situation where I have to ignore the battle for the time being, I just bide my time until I know I'll win the war. It all comes out eventually. And when it does, you'll regret not saying anything.

I just stick to my guns, and I never let anyone dictate how a circumstance should make me feel or convince me that their own feelings in regards to a situation are more valid than my own. If that requires speaking up, I do so. And if it requires shutting up, I do that too.

This. Sometimes you have to ask yourself what good can come of this before you express your honest opinion. There is something to be said for timing and diplomacy on occasion.
Last movie was "Spotlight", well worth seeing. The ensemble cast was fantastic.

Want to see "Carol, "In the Shadow of Women", and "The Benefactor".

I missed "Trumbo" and will stream it when it is available.
What a wonderful actor. He could display so much without uttering a word as in "Sense and Sensibility". And then there were performances like the one Nicola mentioned in "Robin Hood". No one could sneer better.

And that voice! I read in The Guardian that Lindsay Duncan, who starred with him in Les Liaisons Dangereuses on stage and for which he was nominated for a Tony, said of her co-star’s sonorous performance that audiences would leave the theatre wanting to have sex “and preferably with Alan Rickman”. She was right about its impact. It certainly worked for me.

If you have not seen it, he and Emma Thompson play former lovers meeting in "The Song of Lunch". He also narrates the story. It is Rickman at his sardonic best.

I think explicit yes, but gratuitous no. The main thing, is that it is an integral part of the story.

Danielle x

This. Sometimes explicit is appropriate, and sometimes what is left out is more of a turn on as it uses the reader's imagination to fill in the details in a way that arouses them the most. Either way, it depends on the talent of the writer. An explicit description written mechanically like the steps in a recipe is not a turn on. Eliding some details in a well written scene can be really steamy. A good writer can do either well.
