Snags a bear claw

I just want to know that when the prices of gas and groceries don't go down, that people will own up to their mistake. That won't happen of course. The chaos is unfathomable and it hurts my heart.

Already back from an early workout. Feels good to be back at that gym. I have another post-op appointment tomorrow. I think the infection is easing up. I guess I will find out when he does the endoscopy.

I'm hoping to finish the next part of Mac and Grace today.

Happy hump day.

More of those Irish coffee thing, please. Skip the coffee part. Our funding is being officially cut in July. Apparently Elon musk's need of SS uniforms outweighs the need for women to have a safe place to go. God bless amerikkka.

That just sucks out loud. I'm sorry to hear that. 😡

Did you perhaps mean "irrigation crew"? 🤣😀

Lmao yes. Damn autocorrect! 😂

after once more being accused of mod favoritism, I have decided not to enter this or any future comps. thanks very much for finding a way to fuck up my day. sincerely, Rachel.

Don't let the bastards get you down, don't let the assholes wear you out. (some of my favorite Kesha lyrics).

Seriously, fuck whoever is stupid enough to make that kind of accusation. Lush Stories needs SPRITE!

Just got back from my first workout at that gym post surgery. Felt good!

I am meeting with the landscaper and our committee to discuss the design proposal. Can't really plant till March but his guys have done the soil remediation and now the irritation crew is planning their part of the job. It feels good to see progress.

I've been writing a lot since my depressive funk has lifted. Hope to continue to share new stories with all y’all. Links to my new stuff are in the signature box below.

I started a poem for the comp but I didn't like it. I’ll start fresh later today. I DO want to enter. The comp is a nice way to honor Elliott.

Happy Tuesday all y’all. 😎

Good morning all y’all. Nothing happened in NFL football that I didn’t expect yesterday. Congrats on your Chiefs, Mr. Lion.

After what felt like an eternity of 40 degree weather here, yesterday hit 65 and was gorgeously sunny. We grabbed our little beach chairs and towels and wrapped ourselves up to block the wind. A couple of hours on the beach was just what this girl needed. I slept like a baby last night. First time since the surgery that I didn’t wake up more than once. Felt good!

Hope the week is starting off well for all y’all. I’m allowed to go back to the gym starting tomorrow. Who knew I’d be this excited!

LION!!!🦁 ❤️🥰

Even though I’m not gonna root for your Chiefs (I just can’t. I’m still grieving the Detroit Lions loss to the Commanders) I will celebrate with you because I have missed you!!!

Seriously happy to see you back, my friend. Much love! 💕

Hey Bear, put all of Mr. Lion’s drinks on my tab today. 🥰🍻

Just popping in with Hugs for Kimmie. I have been staying with my neighbor who has Alzheimer’s about once a week to give my friend, his wife, a break when the Day Center isn’t available or he has to be picked up early because he is too agitated. We watch Pearl Harbor or Mama Mia, sometimes both. Every week he asks me if I have seen this movie before. He watches for a while and the gets up and paces. He checks the front door because he thinks he is in high school and that the guys are coming to pick him up for the game. I have to say, “Oh, no, they aren’t coming today. The game is tomorrow.” It usually works. But oh my heart breaks for him. He’s so lost. Dementia is a cruel bitch. So sorry your Dad is going through this, Kimmie.

I love that this is a tribute to Elliot. I'm looking forward to trying my hand at a poem in his honor.

Well, the sun finally came out today in "Sunny" Florida. It's been cold and gray all damn week. Today SHOULD be the last day in the 40s (fingers crossed), so I may get through this cold streak without having to turn on the heat. We are well insulated, and the temp inside has remained at 70.

If all goes well, the pool should reopen on Feb 10th. Maybe by then, it will be warm enough to want to swim. 😎

The landscapers should finish replacing all the salt-infused, sandy dirt with luscious new topsoil today. We meet with them on Tuesday to discuss trees, grass, and shrubs. Of course, planting can't really start until March - especially this year, with how many freeze warnings we have had. But it will be exciting to plan out what goes where! It just feels so good to know that our property will eventually be beautiful again.

Hope all y'all have something fun planned for the weekend. If it's warm enough, we might sit on the beach for a while and/or take a walk.

TGIF! 😊

I LOVE this pic, Kimmie! So glad you had time together. 😘

And it's a chilly day in Canuckistan – and an even colder one in America, from the way I interpret the headlines.

Oh well – caffeine to the rescue…

We're using Frodo's … I mean Folger's coffee today in Big Bertha who is all spiffed up and ready to shine!

Tea Kettle sits ready to serve as well, and we have Red Rose and Irish Breakfast teas on the sideboard, other kinds in the box, and sachets of Swiss Miss for them what wants hot chocolate.

And there are donuts and bear claws to tickle your tonsils and tantalize your tummy.

Cold here this morning … -19F with windchill to -23C, which works out to -10F.

So let's not hear any complaining from you folks in the Southern US about how cold it is there, 'K?

And take care out there. There's a nasty, cold wind a-blowin'…

Sorry but when in SNOWS in my state (panhandle, but still) and I have to wear a WINTER COAT because the “feels like” temp is 32F I think I might be entitled to whine a little.

It snowed where my kid lives in Alabama and I teased that she didn’t move far enough south. She pointed out that I probably didn’t either considering that this January is supposedly the 10th coldest in recorded weather history.

My oldest two kids and all the grandkids are home today. It is currently -2F and feels like -18F with windchill. Too cold for school so the adults are working from home.

It looks like something resembling normal temps will come back here on Sunday. My poor brother is like WTF? He’s never been here when it’s been this cold. 🥶

So, the culture of my infection was inconclusive which makes targeting it with a specific antibiotic an unavailable option. I was told to continue the current antibiotic I am on and that my ENT will use an endoscope on my second post op appointment next week. I’m still breathing better but I thought the surgery would prevent more infections. Sigh…

On a very happy note, my follow up with the cancer doc was yesterday and I am still cancer-free! So everyone’s drinks are on me today!

I don’t remember my exact join date, but I recall it was right about five years ago, not long before I anxiously published Summer Cockbuster. Having started writing down some of my fantasies around 2012-2014 but kept them to myself, pushing past fifty prompted me to finally start getting them out into the world. Looking for a legacy of sorts?

Anyway, looking back on sixty-seven published stories, thirteen competition entries and hundreds of forum posts, I’m pleased with the kindness and friendliness of the people here, and happy to have met a number of like-minded people with similar experiences and outlook. Thanks for the warm welcome, for being who you are, and for writing all these hot fucking stories!

Congratulations! 🍾🎈 😈

You’ve been busy! 😘

My friend Jeff and I go catch the latest action movie, and catch some action of our own.

So sad! Elliott was such an amazing poet and just a genuinely nice person! He will be missed.

CUPPYCAKES!!!!!

Nom Nom Nom... wipes the crumbs from my face and licks the frosting from my fingers...

Yum! Thanks, Bear!

I have zero self-control when it comes to buttercream frosting. LOL!

It's 46 with a feels-like temp of 32... too damn cold for someone who lives on a beach in Florida. But there is no snow, so I'll stop my whining. I dug out my winter coat as I have to go out this afternoon to get something notarized.

So, I will have some HOT green tea and another cuppycake, please and thank you!

I was pleasantly surprised to see that contractors actually showed up to work today despite the cold weather. They tend to pull the "It's too cold" card when it's under 50. So, I am amazed that they are out there working. We've got one group working on making our knee wall higher to help keep sand from building up on our property during heavy winds and storms. It won't help stop surge waters, but it will save us thousands of dollars in sand cleanup.

The other group of guys work for the landscaping company. They will be digging out the sand and salt-infused soil and adding fresh new topsoil to all the areas where there will be grass, trees, and bushes.

It feels so good to see progress.

FEMA finally came out on Saturday. Now we wait to see if we get any grant money or at least qualify for a low-interest loan to help cover the costs of special assessments to repair the property. Fingers crossed.

Happy Monday all y'all!

Sorry to hear about Carl. Thinking of you!

And my best wishes to Kat for a full recovery.

And a hello to Marigold and her twin crosses. Hard to take your eyes away from that!

Cold as fuck here. HOT coffee and a danish please! Happy Sunday!

Afternoon all y'all!
So glad to be back in action. I've missed my Rumpie pals!

I'm in touch with our resident Lion and will keep all y'all posted. He mentioned hoping to come round the bar sometime when he can.

I just submitted the first story since November, and it felt good to get it published.

My surgery went well, but the first week afterward was rough. I am finally on the mend, though, and so far, I have to say the surgery was worthwhile. The only bad thing was that I still have an active infection. It is a "mystery" infection in that every time he sends a culture to the lab, it doesn't pinpoint what the actual infection is. He's trying again, because he'd like to target it with a specific antibiotic. In the interim, he has switched me to something different for two weeks. He told me that my sinuses were the most infected he's ever operated on. UGH. So, we are hopeful that we can rid me of infection so I can concentrate on maintenance with Flonase and such. But I can breathe better than I have in years, so that's a huge positive outcome.

I'll have a Coke Zero on ice, please. No wine until I'm done with the antibiotics.

Happy belated to Kistin!

I’ve been playing host to my sister, but she returned back home this morning. After a day of meetings, I’m sitting down to relax a little before going to bed early. My sinus surgery is tomorrow bright at early. 7:30 am!

Hopefully this will finally solve my issues with chronic sinusitis. Fingers crossed!

Glad to hear it, Kat. The joint just ain't the same without you!

Now, what can I get you? Coffee? Tea? Something a little stronger?

You could slip some Hot Damn into some iced tea for me over ice, please and thank you!

Sad to hear of PJH's passing. He was always so friendly to me.

I am popping in to say a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. I've been dealing with a lot of things and it knocked me on my ass (quite literally) for a bit. But things are looking up.

I really wanted to enter this one. Had a story started and everything. Planned to finish it last night. But then I slipped and fell on the ice on the steps of my son’s house and spent majority of last night on the couch barely moving. I can’t win lately. Just glad I didn’t break anything. I am looking forward to reading them all.

Just time for a quick stop in before the gym. It’s a chilly 58 F the morning. But it should hit 73 F this afternoon. Busy day culminating in an 80th bday party for my neighbor.

Happy Monday all y’all!

Hot tea, please and thanks. It's a bit chillier than I like here this morning on the beach. We decided to wait till later to take our walk.

Cleaning out closets today is on our list of chores. So much fun! (NOT).

Hope all y'all are having a good weekend.

Holy Hell, Rachel! I'm so glad you and Kate are okay. HUGS!

I tried to take a walk this morning, but the wind was whipping, and 63 F felt WAY colder. We went from hotter than normal to colder than normal. I'm ready for some normal temperatures, Mr. Weatherman, please, and thank you!

Sadly, I think my pickleball days are over. I guess we shall see when my arm and shoulder are fully healed (if that ever happens). My oldest daughter reminded me that I am ambidextrous and should retrain myself to play left-handed. I'm contemplating that plan.

Found out last night that they MIGHT be able to clear the pool of debris and get it running by the end of January instead of March as we were originally told. I have my fingers crossed because my brother will return for his three-month stay, and we depend on swimming as his only real source of exercise. And, although we are allowed to use the pool two doors down, their pool is elevated and requires steps (which he can't do) or taking the elevator...and theirs is currently broken, thanks to Helene.

Hope all y'all have a great end to your week!

Just peeking in for an afternoon soda. Coke Zero would be amazing...lots of ice please and thank you! Mother of the Bride dress shopping is thirsty work, especially when the bride has a specific color palette.

I've eliminated several dress styles that are not flattering. I've found styles I love, but not in the color palette. I found one I really like in a color that is an acceptable alternative. (The bride and groom are both engineers but also have a strong creative side. Two of the most perfect mixes of left brain and right brain that you could ever meet). Sooo, this is gonna be a process. Fortunately, I got an early start. (Wedding is next fall).

I think I'll scrounge around for a leftover cuppycake or snack of some sort. I've earned it.

Still not much in the way of progress as far as any repairs on the property. It's depressing to be at a stand still. BUT on a happy note, the bike shop will be able to fix our ebikes. It won't be cheap, but it will be much less than buying new bikes.

STILL waiting on the insurance folks to decide if the contents of our garage should be covered or not. We are on our 4th agent handling the claim. FEMA told us they are too overwhelmed and MIGHT be able to come out next week. 😕

Hope all y'all are doing okay! Hang in there Kimmi!

I'll take a Mimosa to go. I'm about to decide what I want on my new car. I've convinced myself that paying extra for the pearl white is worth it in Florida. Cheers!
