I handled the last little details on my To-Do list for the wedding yesterday. I finally secured two stylists to do hair and makeup for myself and my three daughters (including my DIL who I consider my daughter) for the oldest one’s wedding later this month. They will come to the venue and make us all beautiful!

I also secured the reservation for the rehearsal dinner and sent the menu out to my adult children asking them to send me their orders so we can preorder. That way we will finish dinner in a timely manner and make it to our boat excursion on time. After the boat ride, we will play glow golf at the resort.

I can’t believe we are just 2.5 weeks away from the big day! We’ve been in planning mode for so long. And rumor has it, the youngest should be engaged either by the wedding or perhaps during that weekend. Her bf asked for our blessing. So, looks like we will be planning another wedding soon. 😎😘

Seaweed has been raked, sun is back out, but it’s still pretty damn windy out there. Pier repairs still need to be done. But our sand guy will remove the sand from the the pool deck and flatten out any unlevel spots on the beach that could be a hazard.

Still, we were so fortunate to not have the flooding that our friends who live north of us.

The waves are still crashing pretty intensely at times. My neighbor is hoping that will bring more shells. (He’s so cute. He’s nearly 80 and LOVES to go for walks looking for shells).

I felt so sorry for the pole vaulter whose giant package spoiled his Olympic bid. But he probably should have tucked his junk. 🙈🤷‍♀️

Lots of wind and rains still. The tail of the storm is still swirling around in our area. We had some damage to our pier, but not unfixable. We have sand in the pool, the hot tub, and the pool deck, but that can be cleaned up. What is hurting my heart is I’m pretty sure the turtle nests on either side of our pier were destroyed. I suppose there is a chance the eggs are okay if Mama Turtles buried them deep enough. But we won’t know for a while. Not looking good though.

We got lucky on the beach. More flooding happened inland. Because I’m on a very narrow part of the island, the water had somewhere to go here.

Just some tea for now. I’m sure I will need a drink later. I have to take my brother to the eye doc. Apparently they are not closed and the roads between here and there have cleared. Wish me luck. 🍀

I'm sorry I didn't post an update earlier. I've been writing up a storm (pun intended). About an hour ago, we were on the edge of the eye, and about two hours ago, we had a take-cover tornado warning. There was no touchdown here. Still a tornado watch till 6 am. But we're all safe and sound. We did lose a surfer dude garden gnome. May he rest in pieces. I should have brought in the gnomes, but by the time I thought about it, it was raining cats and dogs.

Still blowing like crazy out there, wind, rain, and sand. Of course, there are a few idiots out there. A little while ago, I saw a set of parents with their toddler-age children swimming to the south of us. I get that y'all are on vacation, people. But is it really worth risking the possibility of a storm surge or rip tide? People drown all the time down here by making stupid, careless decisions.

I'll have a glass of Moscato while I read some of the many comp stories I still haven't gotten to yet. Cheers! 🍷

I submitted my SS entry. Had a window where I could focus. Last week was tough. Dad’s declined and been diagnosed with Alzheimers and vascular dementia. Too sad for words. I still haven’t recovered from trauma of Mom’s Alzheimers.

I’ll be spotty on here until I can accept everything and improve my mental/emotional state. Meanwhile, I’m trying to install two software upgrades at once at work.

Last month, I set out to write something a little different—something that would show more depth in my writing than my salaciously fun microfiction pieces.

I wanted to write a realistic fiction story that would evoke a myriad of emotions and still have an erotica component.

I challenged myself to keep the parts of the story short, which meant needing to be succinct so I could tell the story without feeling like something was missing.

What I came up with was The Last Dance. (Here is the link The Last Dance - Part One).

Two young people meet by chance and discover quickly that they both have terminal cancer. They embark on a relationship journey that goes beyond love.

Though I have shared links in my Katarina’s Kinky Korner thread, I wanted to share the story here as a separate post.

I’d love your likes and favorites, of course. But even more so, I’d love to have you comment on the parts of the story if you are so inclined.

August will be a busy month! HS friends will come to visit for a week starting Saturday. Mid-month we will make our annual trek to visit my sister in Canada. The toward the end of the month, my husband will finally walk our oldest daughter down the aisle. Hopefully I will still find time to write. I am working on a story for SS that sort of got pushed to that back burner when I decided to spice up The Last Dance series to make it Lush worthy. Hopefully that will be ready next week.
