"You fucking cunt! Get out now!"
"Fuck you, you limped-dicked weasel!"
It was 1 AM, and Bill and Jodi were at it again. One more knock-down, drag-out fight among dozens. They were a constant source of amusement and consternation for the rest of the band.
There were currently eleven of us, traveling in a rickety old retired Greyhound bus. The year was 1979. The bus was built in 1952 and should've been junked long ago. It roamed the country like an aluminum pirate ship, plowing through the asphalt ocean and threatening everything it came near. With a little love and a lot of diesel, it carried us to conventions and trade shows every weekend, where we played songs about mom, the flag, and apple pie. Our show was sweet, revolting pablum, spooned out to drunken businessmen and their bored wives. But at least the job paid poorly. It didn't matter to us. It was still showbiz!
Most of the band members were in their 20s and had day jobs of one sort or another. I was 19, and going to trade school during the week. I received roughly $40 per show, plus a meager per diem for meals. The bus had no air conditioning and no bathroom. It stunk of diesel and sweat. It was noisy and uncomfortable, and I wouldn't have traded it for the world.
We all slept in rude bunks made from 2x4s and plywood, laid out on either side of the bus. There were twelve bunks in all, divided into four groups stacked three high. We finished the bunks off with the latest style in wood paneling, just like everything else in America back then. An aisle ran down the middle. Mine was on the bottom left. I slept on a foam rubber mattress while the bus shimmied and wallowed its way down the road.
Across the aisle, and one level up, was my friend Little Tony. He was an unofficial big brother to most of us. He was probably 25 or 26 and played drums. He'd grown up on a farm, and it showed. He was all muscle, and joked that he could change the tire on a tractor without a jack or a wrench. I didn't doubt him for a minute. He was a beast. I don't know how he managed to fit himself into that little bunk.
Bill and Jodi were our singers. Bill had a great voice and could sing just about anything. He was handsome and charismatic, and his ego would barely fit on the bus with us. Jodi was our only female and was gorgeous. She had a natural beauty that was just amazing to me. She could roll out of her bunk in the morning with no makeup and look like she was ready to do a photo session. She had a smoky alto voice that gave me chills. Between the two of them, we could cover just about anything.
They'd been together for months, and they alternated between vowing their devotion to each other and threatening to rip each other's hearts out about every three days. It must have been exhausting for them. It certainly was for us. When they were on speaking terms, Jodi would sneak into Bill's bunk at night, and we'd all be treated to the sound of that lovely voice, moaning and sighing. It was like having a porn video playing all night. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who used that sound as the inspiration for a good session of pud-pounding in my bunk.
I couldn't believe the two of them could go at it for so long. As much as I disliked Bill, I had to admire his stamina.
The next day they'd be at each other's throats again.
A small lounge area sat between the driver's compartment and the bunks. After their last big fight, Jodi came into the lounge. I was alone there, and she sat with me. She was really upset.
She was such a terrific girl, and it pissed me off to see Bill treat her like this. He routinely slept with other girls and disrespected her in front of us. Any other guy on the bus would've given his right arm to be with her, including me. I couldn't hold back. I was sick of it.
"You know, Jodi, you deserve someone better than him. He has no idea how to treat you. You shouldn't put up with it."
She sniffled a bit. She was trying to keep herself under control. "I know. But I love him so much."
"Yeah. Well, that makes two of you."
She wiped her eyes and laughed a little.
We chatted a while longer, and I did my best to cheer her up. She eventually decided to go back to her own bunk and get some sleep.
"Thanks for talking to me. I appreciate it." She leaned over and kissed me on the cheek.
So now I was back to listening to their squabbling and trying to get to sleep. It was pretty routine to hear the other guys snickering when she landed a really good insult. He wasn't the most popular guy. Eventually things died down and got quiet, aside from the ever-present rumbling and general cacophony the bus produced as it moved along. We had all learned to ignore that. It was the sound of home.
I heard someone in the aisle, and the curtain to my bunk pulled back. A shadowy figure appeared. "Can I come in?"
It was Jodi. I certainly had no objections. "Sure. That'd be fine." I scooted over as much as I could. The bunks were tiny, and I'd always been amazed that she and Bill had found a way to fit into his.
She came in and lay down beside me, and put her arms around me. She was crying, and I knew why. It was public knowledge he was two-timing her. I really wanted to get up and kick Bill's ass. I was sure a number of the other guys would be very willing to help. The whole routine was wearing pretty thin. Instead, I put my arms around her and held her. If she was looking for shelter, I was more than willing to provide it. Despite my absolute lust for her, we all looked out for each other. It was the decent thing to do.

I did what little I could to comfort her, telling her it would be okay.
She said, "He was out fucking Jenny last night. He just admitted it." Jenny was a girl who liked to hang out with the band. We weren't the Rolling Stones, but at least we had a groupie of some sort. She seemed like a walking disaster area, and I stayed well clear of her. One of the other guys had warned me that if I ever stepped in her, I'd never get her scraped off my shoe. It was a crude metaphor, but it seemed pretty apt.
I wasn't sure what to say to Jodi, but it didn't matter. I was wearing sweat shorts, and I felt her hand sneak down into them. She soon found my cock, and started stroking it. I was surprised, but there was no way I was going to object. I found her mouth in the darkness and kissed her. It was something I'd wanted to do for months, and she didn't seem in the mood to reject me now. I felt her tongue enter my mouth, and we made out for a while. She placed my hand on her breast, and I explored that lovely, forbidden territory. It was glorious.
After a little while, she wriggled out of her pajama pants and pulled my shorts down. She pulled me over toward the middle of the mattress, and climbed on. Then she said the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. "Two can play at this game."
And so she started exacting her vengeance. She fucked me over and over. All the while, that beautiful voice sang for me. Well, sang for him, to be honest. A song of pleasure and revenge. Occasionally she'd scream out my name. I don't know if she actually came, or whether she was putting on a performance to drive him insane. It made no difference to me. I don't remember how many times she used me that night, and I didn't really care. I soon realized that Bill wasn't the one with the stamina. She was relentless and incredibly persuasive. The whole experience was surreal - like a waking dream. I was young and dumb and full of cum, and she made full use of everything I had to give her. And who was I to complain? She could drop by any time! When I woke up the next morning, she was gone.
We had reached our destination, and it was time to get to work. We'd undoubtedly go to the local Denny's or truck stop for breakfast, as usual, then head to the venue to start unloading gear and setting up for the show. I emerged from my bunk and saw Bill. He glared at me from farther down the aisle. I didn't know what to do, so I waved and grinned. He snapped. He came charging down the aisle looking for blood. He was about two feet away when Little Tony reached out of his bunk, grabbed him, and put him in a headlock. He slid out of his bunk and drove Bill down to his knees.
"What happened last night was your fault, you little shit. If you make a move against anyone, I'll pound your arrogant ass into the dirt. Just give me a reason! Please!"
Bill froze and went completely quiet. Tony eventually released him and told him to get moving. He walked back toward his bunk. His face was as red as a beet.
Tony smiled at me and said, "Great job, kid! I sure hope you had fun. We were all rootin' for ya." He turned and went about his business without another word.
I got my clothes on and headed into the truck stop. Some of the other guys were already in the restaurant when I got there. When I approached the table, I received a standing ovation. Bill was nowhere to be seen. Nobody seemed to miss him.
We made it through the rest of the trip, but Jodi left the band as soon as we got home. I called her up to ask her out, but she said no.
"I'm sorry, honey. You're really sweet, and you've got a nice cock, but I just don't feel that way about you. I hope you don't hate me for using you like that. It was kind of a shitty thing to do."
"Are you kidding? I got to have sex with you, and see Bill get taken down a peg. I can't think of a nicer way to spend the night. And let me make it clear - you can use me any time you like. Just make me a promise. If you're not going to get involved with me, please try to find a guy that will treat you right. You deserve to be happy."
"I will, sweetheart. Goodbye."
I never saw her again.
Author's Note:
Most of this story is true. I did travel with a convention band in my youth, and it was the best time I've ever had. I visited 38 states and saw things I'd never have seen any other way. I've kept up with quite a few people from the band. They're like family to me, and I love them dearly.
Sadly, I didn't get to have sex with Jodi, but I sure thought about it all the time.
The real Bill wasn't quite as bad as I made him out to be. In fact, I really liked him once I got past his ego.
I left the band and went out to Silicon Valley to make my fortune. That turned out well. The real Bill and Jodi got married, but divorced a year later. Who could've seen that coming?
Bill eventually joined a real band, and they actually had one hit on Top 40 radio. Bill didn't get to sing, though. He played percussion and waited for his big break. It never came. He drifted into alcoholism and passed away a few years later. That broke my heart. He deserved more than life gave him.
The real Jodi kept in touch with a few people, but eventually just vanished. She's lost to us now. She was such a lovely girl, and I hope she found someone worthy of her. She deserved good things.
