Trick or Treat... It's Halloween, but weenie. This time of year conjures up images of witches, pumpkins, black cats, costume parties, apple bobbing, to name a few. We're looking for short, sexy Halloween stories that fit into our microfiction category.

A micro is one of the hardest story styles to master, because there is no room for unnecessary words. We're looking for creative little works, whether fun or spooky, still containing that signature Lush sexiness.

There are two rules. Your halloween-themed story must be 100 words or less. And it must contain the word 'pumpkin'.

This short-stack of a competition will run through October and winners will be announced Nov 6th.

Happy halloweeeeeeeenie 🎃🎭🎃🍭🎃🍏🎃🍎🎃⚰️🎃🏚️🎃

Yay! A micro comp! Now j just have to figure out how to fit that word pumpkin in the Halloween micro I wrote last night. I'm sooo glad I had a longer story to submit today and kept my micro on ice.

Please enjoy my 2nd Unleashed story:

I read that as ... the teenie weenie Halloweenie entreenies. Haha

So I did a thing with leftlingula... 😈 Naughty people, I'm not talking about that. We wrote a story together! I'm very proud of what we've done and we would love for you to read it. It's about a husband and wife remembering who they are together. The fire, their passion, their love, her need to submit to him, and his need to dominate her. All rolled into one beautiful connection. It all started with one simple word...

reading the announcement... only two rules. hmm... so... none of the normal rules apply? did i get that right?

Can it be plural? Asking for a friend. 😉

Yes, Rach, I'm sure that your incestuous non-consensual scat pumpkin story will go over well. Go for it. 😳

My mind is horrible, period, at times. And as I remarked in Rump's, I don't even have drugs or alcohol to blame. 🤪

Incest category excluded, I hope? Because I can imagine what a few of our writers might do with "pump kin."

I don't mean to be a party pooper. But I thought stories 100 words or less had to be in the MicroFiction Category (with the exception of poems). Also, thought this story comp was for the MicroFiction Category. Please correct me if I am wrong, because I have seen (published in the last 20 minutes) 4 comp entries not placed in the "MicroFiction" Category.

Yeah, that pun occurred to me last night and I just went, "big nope".

Interesting. I haven't looked to see what's up yet. The announcement did not specify "Micro" just the 100 word limit but given the board rules, that should then point to "Micro" as the appropriate category. Not sure why the mods are letting them through. Though I guess if a Micro also had Incest Fantasies, the latter category would trump the former given the need to enable people to block those stories.

We're just debating this. Might move them yet. Waiting for Jen to raise her gavel and decree which way to go.

Please browse my digital bookshelf. In this collection, you can find 101 stories, nine micro-stories, and two poems with the following features:

* 26 Editor's Picks, 69 Recommended Reads.
* 15 competition podium places, 9 other times in the top ten.
* 20 collaborations.
* A whole heap of often filthy, tense, hot sex.

The comp brief states that "We're looking for short, sexy Halloween stories that fit into our microfiction category" which kind of implies they go there, but it's not explicit.

Note that the microfiction category is specifically for works that tell a complete story in the small word count. So just a random sex act without anything that takes the reader beyond what's written is probably not technically microfiction.

Yes. There are exceptions like this. In those cases they should be tagged with microfiction instead.

Honestly, I thought your statement about microfiction NOT just being random sex acts had gone by the wayside. It seems more than not that I see in that category are just sex scenes and are very popular with readers from the looks of things. I prefer the fuller stories though and think this comp will bring those out. 😊

Yeah, in theory the challenge is to tell a complete story. But interpretation of completeness is at mod discretion so there is bound to be variation.

I'm a real hardass about it, and have been called out on my stance. To the point I admitted my mistake and published them because I'd missed some storyline nuances. Cleverer mods than me would have passed them without hesitation.

So I think you will find far more variation in the Microfiction category than others.

I think this being a sex site lends micros towards sex scenes. Non-erotica micros I read online are more prone to beg, mid, end storytelling. Regardless, Lush readers obviously love the micros here, so all good. smile

Yeah, I think it's important to tell a full story (which is why I am so bad at micros). I used to have this problem with flash, writing a good sex scene rather than telling a story where something shifts and changes at the end. It can be subtle, but SOMETHING has to happen.

I also think 100 words should be a hard limit.

This. I've pretty much stopped reading them, though their popularity does far exceeds anything I could have ever hoped for.

Good for Lush in end.

It has to. If anyone thinks they can win a comp with a 100 word sex scene, they are kind of not paying attention. I usually have minimal sex in a micro, just sexual content as part of the story.

It is. At least according to the Story Edit panel, which is the criteria we use to ensure they are within the limit. The word counters on the rest of the site are more... nebulous, shall we say. It's been that way since as long as I remember, even on Lush v1.

One day the counters might agree with one another...

LOL. And one day the word processor makers might also agree on how to count words. Hint to LibreOffice: The header should NOT be counted. 🙄

Anyhow, I've got 100 words written that tell a story. Still want to give it some time to simmer. Might be ready this weekend given that I have a long weekend ahead of me.

Hi. So to be sure, is it a 100 word limit EXCLUDING the title? As my current piece shows as 100 words on edit mode and 102 on preview.

Thanks.

100 words in edit mode is fine. That's what we go by generally. Yeah, title is excluded.
