I am currently watching The Terror, and Succession. I just finished City on a Hill. I am pretty sure l've seen some interesting clips of upcoming series, but have forgotten what, when, and which channel. With the enormous channel offerings, they all begin to run together.
I started watching Kirlian Frequency, and it's amazing.

I tried watching The Boys, but sheer irony/hypocrisy of the largest company in the world run by the richest man in the world producing a television program based on source material that is aggressively anti-corporation was too much for me.

City on a Hill was pretty good. I was expecting more though. If you liked that, check out Brotherhood.

It follows two brothers, one a politician and the other a gangster taking place in Providence Rhode Island.

Watched the first two episodes of Carnival Row.

Quite impressed. High production quality. Great production quality.

The viewers seem to like it, but the critics feel a bit different. I love the twist of having a fantasy based in a Victorian based world, entwined with timless issues of colonialism and racism.

I was so disappointed in this.

I watched this a few days ago when it first came out. I thought it was pretty good. Pretty standard Chappelle stuff.

So I was later surprised that it caused quite a bit of controversy... I was more surprised that it had a 0% on Rotten tomatoes.

It makes me think that these super PC people that review movies for the social message probably shouldn't be reviewing stand up comedy.
And the fact that only five reviewers had posted, indicates that probably a lot more watched it, liked it, but didn't feel comfortable posting a positive review because of the public consequences.

If these people were offended by this special, then I would love to see how they would react If they went to an actual comedy club. They'd be clutching their pearls and running for the exit after 5 minutes.

I'm not a huge Dave Chappelle fan but I respect the fact that he simply doesn't give a fuck. He made "fuck you money", and now he says "fuck you." That should be everyone's dream.

Nothing he did was for shock value. He isn't Andrew Dice Clay. He's just stating his opinions and being fucking hilarious.

I highly recommend this special. Available now on Netflix. smile

Why? I'm so amazed by this common response. I'm on episode 5 and I love it. Especially the cinematography and the set design.

I was super excited to sit and watch it. To be fair I've only seen the first episode but I was bored. I just kept checking how long it had left. Nothing happened, nothing sparked my interest or made me rush to watch the next episode. Maybe it's just me I have to be entertained at least 30 mins into a programme or movie or I'm lost. You know what I'm like
Succession is a show I initially didn’t want to watch, but glad I did. All the characters are horrible people. Their awkward way around issues is annoying and uncomfortable. But damn, it’s great television. I love Billions, and still do, but this is a different animal. Nothing else like it on TV. I fear that formula won’t last.

I binged MadMen over the summer. I’m glad I did. I tried a few times but never could get past the Mass Misogyny of the first episode. It’s another series with a bunch of flawed characters. The last couple of seasons felt more like a soap opera, with all the g-rated sex scenes. Lots of unnecessary pillow talk. They were just silly. When it was winning awards, it was up against some incredible competition. Roger was a great one-liner, smart ass character. I loved Jon Hamm, but also hated him. Never liked January Jones’ character - a credit to her acting. Peggy was the lead, but LOVED Joan Holloway. Hubba Hubba.

Also tried to finish The Sopranos. I had to skip a bunch and ended up going to the series finale. Except for Tony and his crew, every other character annoyed me. I guess I’m in the minority, but I did not enjoy the series, unless the big guy was on the screen.

The final season of The Affair has begun, and sadly, it’s lost some luster. It’s still intense, but in a different way. It’s another messy people story.

Finally, stumbled across Mindhunter on Netflix. Terrific show. Based on a true story. Almost finished season two, which was recently released. Holden is like a Fox Mulder-type character - good looking, obsessed.

Essentially, during the late ‘70’s, a small FBI team in the behavioural sciences division study mass murders, coin the phrase, Serial Killer, and interview convicted serial killers to develop profiles for future investigations. The ‘cameo’ scenes with the killers are chilling. Those actors nailed it. Many themes run through this show. It takes a couple episodes to get going, but then it’s addictive. And riveting. The theme with Agent Tench’s son Is especially chilling. Damn. Could you imagine?

I loved it the scene where she’s flying while fucking was really well done! First episode
I started watching Deadwood, another old HBO series, its pretty good.. Lots of potty mouths in this one.
I haven't yet paid for a streaming service. Sometimes I read about shows on Netflix and others, but none of them have enough shows I would pay to watch, and I want downloads included in the price. I assume any show I like will be available later on dvd.
Don't watch much TV anymore and ditched cable a few years ago. Last series I watched was Downton Abbey and The Crown. Haven't seen the Downton Abby movie yet but definitely will. Waiting for season three of The Crown to start in November.

we've been watching the Ken Burn's Country doc. it's riveting.

It's fucking amazing. I didn't think I'd have 18 hours of documentary in me, but I keep finding myslef wishing they'd gone into more depth in quite a few places. It is SO good at connecting the dots and tracing the crazy complex lineage of country music.

I got a little choked up when they were talking about Hank Williams. And while I knew they were a huge figure in country, I had no idea the Carter family influanced THREE GENERATIONS of country.

I have too but i find that tho i luv Johnny Cash's voice i think he must have been a creep. Maybe chalk it up to his excesses, but we're all responsible for our lives.

i don't know a lot about country music, so it seems pretty in depth to me - mostly because about 80% of it is 'wow, i had no idea!' smile i love history and that's a huge part of the appeal, especially since the stories are so personal. :)

I missed the very first episode of Country Music, but I am aware enough of the historical background to be able to join in the second show and be able to follow and enjoy it all. It was tremendous. Loved every minute of it. Certainly not disappointed in Ken Burns. It was just as good as his other grand work. To be clear, I've never actually purchased any country records and I dislike listening to radio stations that transmit it. But this was history and culture and art all combined.

I discovered why I've always loved what I had seen of Rodney Crowell and Emmylou Harris.
Last night I saw the Doomsday Machine episode of Star Trek and noticed the innuendo of driving down its mouth and exploding in its throat.

Preacher. It was pretty fucked up.

Now the longest running live action sitcom in US history..... Tied with Ozzie and Harriet.

I started watching this back in season 1. Probably the most un -PC show on TV.

Scenarios include

: becoming addicted to crack cocaine and pretending to be mentally challenged in order to qualify for welfare; attempted cannibalism; kidnapping; blackface; hiding naked inside a couch in order to eavesdrop on people; tricking a man into giving his daughter a lap dance; forcing each other to eat inedible items; huffing paint; foraging in the sewers for rings and coins; sleeping with each other's romantic interests; seducing a priest; secretly feeding someone their dead pet; plugging their open wounds with trash; grave robbing; setting a room full of people on fire and locking the door to avoid an uncomfortable Thanksgiving meal; stalking their crushes; fantasizing about killing each other; taking out life insurance on a suicidal person; orally siphoning gasoline; and pretending to have AIDS in order to get priority access to water park rides—among many other scenarios.

They are running our of scenarios though...

I like Billy Bob Thornton
Just watched the first episode of Watchmen.

I was surprised at all the negative reviews.

It showed the 1921 Tulsa race riots, which I think many people didn't know actually occurred.

It didn't really grab me beyond that, but I'll keep watching.
When a British soldier is charged with a crime, based on CCTV footage, the tenacious young detective handling his case begins to uncover a multi-layered conspiracy.

Actually got around to watching the final episode of this. The series began with such promise, totally drew me in from the very begining and had me desperate to watch the next episode. And yet . . . I found the climax a bit of a disappointment, felt cheated somehow. As other viewers have mentioned, maybe done that the way it was for more to come, a possible season 2.

Anyhow, if your bag is conspiracy theories, and the philosophical implication of how emerging video technologies will one day be able to re-define the past, set circumstance up to suit political end, this is one for you.

I listend to the writer talking on Radio Four just before I watched episode one. He was saying how when he began to write this, he had imagiened he was almost writing SF, but by the time he had done the research, he realised nearly everything about the technology featured in the shows was actually available. Scary thought.

Unfortunately, this trailer does not do it justice.

Hulu just released the first three episodes of Castle Rock season 2.

I like it better than the first season so far.

Lizzy Caplan is great as Annie Wilkes.... although the timeline is strange to me.
Victim Number 8 on Netflix
Kissing your lips while straddling your lap.

Anyone ever heard of or watched, LetterKenny?

It's a pretty good, satirical Canadian comedy that I've not seen the likes of before. Profane. Non-PC. Quirky as fuck.

I watch it. The portrayal of the hockey players is dead on.

I've started watching it as well. I like the idea of an Annie Wilkes backstory. Not sure how that is going to go together with a Salem's Lot storyline. It's holding my interest, due in large part to Lizzy Caplan's performance.

I watched In the Tall Grass On Netflix. It is based on a novella by Stephen King and his son Joe Hill. I had not read it, the movie was predictable but passable, it was late at night so I am less critical at that time.

I was pleasantly surprised to like CBS's new show Evil. I like the actors and the first two episodes seem promising.

Recorded both Catherine the Great and Mrs. Fletcher on HBO but haven't had a chance to watch them yet. Has anyone else watched them?
