It's my #1 favorite: L.A. Confidential.

R.I.P. Curtis Hanson

Ordinary People was based on Judith Guest's best seller Ordinary People.
I like the way you make me feel even when I'm nowhere near...
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (but the Swedish version...it was so much more true to the book)

The Lord of the Rings
Brokeback Mountain. It's an almost word for word filming.
The Keep - Starring Scott Glen book written by F Paul Wilson.

There are times she is kneeling out of obedience, reverence and respect. Those are the times it is okay to stand above her. But when she is kneeling because the weight of the world is just too heavy to bear … that is when You should be kneeling beside her.

Gone With the Wind. Margaret Mitchell
I read the whole series of New Moon and The movies were as close as you can get
'Fifty Shades of Grey'

I'm hoping this book I was reading for fun college gets made into a movie mostly because the setting and visuals described took a lot of imagination to picture in my head. I want to see someone else's take on the setting. It's a science-fiction book called Wool that takes place in the near future when the Earth's atmosphere is too polluted to live in and all of the civilization lives in a giant silo.

A very good book turned into a classic film.

Full Metal Jacket, basd upon the novel The Short Timers. Kubrick's film is brilliant, and I actually prefer it to the novel, which was also good.

Someone else mentioned The Shawshank Redemption, based on a novella by Stephen King. The written story is one of my favorite of King's works, and it is likely the most fiathful adaptation of any of his works, and certainly in my mind the most successful- Frank Darbont did a brilliant job, and all the acting is top notch!

The Lord of the Rings movies were all well made, though I think that they were better when they stuck close to the source material, and suffered at those moments when they wildly diverged.

One trilogy of books that I love deeply has never been adapted to the screen, and I do hope that eventually someone will do The Fionavar Tapestry justice on the big screen, because I think they would make a fantastic trilogy of fantasy movies.
I enjoyed reading The Fault in Our Stars, but the movie made me cry like a baby.

"Fight Club" by Chuck Palahniuk. The movie and book are both perfect, and quite different.
The Princess Bride, which was so much better than the book.

I didn't know that was even a book! I LOVE Ghibli studios and Miyazaki. I'll look for it.

I thought Fight Club was better than the book (and it was a pretty good book).
Empire of the Sun (Speilberg doing J G Ballard).
Silence of the Lambs.
Gone With the Wind
We were soldiers once and young
The 50 Shades trilogy & The Bridges of Madison County.
