As a Lush reader, to what degree does an author's profile incite you to want to read their stories?
Do you typically find profiles that intrigue you (whether it be the way the bio is written, or how many naked pictures they have posted of "themselves" in their galleries) and then feel like that intrigues you to want to read what their stories are about?
OR
Are you more likely to just do a random search under a topic and read any story that catches your eye (perhaps due to topic or the title), regardless of whether they have a basic red/white avatar or any details in their bio.
If you like the story, I can understand wanting to check out the author's profile, but just curious if one comes before the other.
Also, if you tend to read stories based on other criteria (eg. maybe it's because you like some of their opinions/comments in forum posts etc, or maybe it's because someone recommends an author to you), feel free to comment.
But really my main question is, does "Author Lust and/or Intrigue" come before or after you read a story.
I typically read stories of people I've met in the chat rooms or in the forum. Author lust definitely plays a big role for me.
When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser. Socrates I usually go to my preferred categories and read the stories there. After I read and enjoy a story, then I like to learn more about the author.
I'm more of a random reader. I like to just click on a subject and check out what's popular or new. That was the case when I first joined up anyway. I do have a few favorite authors but I discovered them randomly. I am first intrigued by a story and if the author is cool too it just makes me like them more. I like male and female authors so if I favorited or commented on your story it's because I liked it and not just because I find you sexy.
For example. When I first signed up I came across a story about football practice. I stopped and thought hmmm this looks very naughty... I saw the avatar and was like ok alright this girl has nice boobs and all but I was going to read it anyway. I liked the story and clicked on her profile. I thought she was interesting and she was on my radar but that was it. I then started going to the forum and noticed that this author was one of the most intelligent people I have encountered on the internets. Always with the right thing to say on almost every subject. And that's how I fell in love with ladyX. So now I read her stories because she is one of my favorites but she was discovered randomly through her writing. All my favorites happened that way.
If I like what someone has to say in the forums, I usually click on their profile to see if they've written any stories.
I also get to see some gems pop up through moderating, so that's always a bonus.
