Thank you for mentioning me amongst the other talent writers in your list.
Usually the author of the story I am reading at the time.

I have so many favorites, too many to list. I like to read in different genres depending on my mood. I do love poems, so I always read anything by

Layla June
ElliotLacey
Trinket
Stephanie
Lily
Adi_me33
avrgblkgrl
adagio_sabadicus
KnightOflove

They never fail to delight, please and sometimes make me sad or think. I'm sure I've left some out, but that is the beauty of this place. There is something new every day to discover. A new poem, story or author. That's why I love it here. Anyone can find something to their taste.

Thank you SO much, Gill. It moves me greatly to be noticed and mentioned.
Emerson Bosworth, of course. He's flying the flag for us dirty old men and writes seriously hot stories to keep us hot and horny. Check out his latest installment: https://www.lushstories.com/stories/taboo/my-stepmother-and-me.aspx

He always seems to get targeted by trolls who think it's funny to vote his stories a 4. I think people are just jealous.

Keep your pecker up and keep writing, Emerson.

since when did voting 4s become trolling...

I just don't see how any story can be scored 4. The stories on here are vetted by good people such as you and the other mods, so I can't see how a story can get published that's worth any less a vote of 5. The site's standards are far too high to be publishing crap stories.

There are plenty of crap stories that deserve less than 4s. There is a bare minimum standard to be published, like minimal grammar and spelling mistakes. Stories aren't approved on excellent character development or plot structure.

4 = above average. in my book, a 3 or better is a perfectly reasonable score - average to excellent. not every freaking story here is excellent - modding only fixes grammar - a pedestrian story is still a pedestrian story.

Well I voted a story a 4 once and I received a PM from the author accusing me of trolling. They also said that the stories are carefully vetted and stories worth less than 5 are rejected. They also told me that voting less than 5 was site bashing and I could have my account deleted if I did it again.

I just believed her. I thought she made a good point.

*shrugs* some people are jerks - that's total BS, as is the site bashing comment - trust me, you're not going to have your account deleted unless you go around giving every story on Lush a 1. we won't even look into scores of 3 or higher - waste of our time - not everyone's going to enjoy everything posted here, and like i said, a 3 is average. not every story here is a work of art - trust me on that.

Good Point... (BUT CONSIDER...)

The Story Mod team are selected because they are FINE WRITERS... (But NOT EVERY FINE WRITER on site is selected as a Story Mod...)

What Story Mods DO, is PARK EVERY SINGLE PREJUDICE that they personally might have and, recognizing how a story might connect with a wider readership, approve it AFTER any qualms or queries about content or quality have been addressed...

What happens AFTER THAT, is up to the wider membership...

OF COURSE some stories might not CONNECT with a reader, and SOME READERS, (As opposed to going on to something else...) might choose to offer a critical comment. (That is their perogative...)

But, ANYTHING POSTED HERE HAS A CERTAIN MERIT!

The BEAUTY, as in all things, is in the eye of the beholder...

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from, but I suppose people just have different opinions on the matter.

With this being an amateur writing site, you're not going to find any works of art on here, but people have different standards so some will think that everything is worth at least a 5. And some will be offended if someone scores less then 5.

I was reading a story a couple of weeks ago, and when I began, the story had received several 5 votes and a single 4 vote. By the time I finished reading, that 4 vote had turned into a 5, so I just assumed that voting less than 5 was a problem and believed the author who accused me of trolling.

If that was true, then surely there would be no need for a voting system at all?

Or perhaps the votes should be changed from 1-5, to 5-10. 5 meaning awesome, and 10 meaning it's an international best seller?...

I don't like giving less than 5's, I'll be honest. I just know how much work goes into writing something, sometimes very personal, and then putting it out there to be criticised. I was almost literally shitting myself the first time I did it (it did get easier....). Because of that reason, the only votes I've ever given are 5's.

That doesn't mean I think every story is a 5...far from it! There have been many stories I've not finished (and some I've barely started...), and others that I've got to the end and decided it best just not to vote. So actually, I've barely scored any story/poem I've read. That might not be right or what others do, but it's what I do. I just wouldn't feel nice giving someone a low score, so I don't score at all.

I may be an angry(ish) lover, but I'm a sympathetic voter!

Also, 5 is the very best score you give, but I also give that score in remembrance of the fact that this is an amateur writers site. I mean, if I read some of the stories I've given a five too, and they were recognised authors who had charged me to buy a book, would I offer a five? No, I wouldn't. But it's all relative, and I score in remembrance of that fact

I had just about the same thing happen to be, I had read this Author for a long time, scored 5's every time, then one time I scored a 4 and I was deleted and blocked.. I think that says alot for that writer.

If I write a story and it is not a good story, then by all means point it out to me, that is what the comments are there for. Im not saying be rude, but how else do you learn? And if you give me a 4 and explain to me why you did. I will respect that 4 by all means.

I'm like Angryish now, if the story is not what I like, I either don't score, a lot of times dont finish the story. I wont score less than a 5 because of my experience, and not every story deserves a 5, and I say that because , everyone likes different things, so because I did not like the story , don't mean Joe Blow wont like it, So I dont score.

As far as picking my favorite Author I have to many to start naming.

Just my 2cents that will probably be bashed all to hell.. But its my opinion.

You are absolutely right, Simmie. A 4 is not trolling, a 4 should be a compliment. So, I pay no attention to scoring, but give the comments a lot of weight, both when commenting and being commented on. And if I can't award a 5, I usually just don't score, as you said. I just try to take the time to find my favorite parts of the story and point them out.

Spot on Simmie. Personally take much more notice of the comments than the scores, at least they show that the person has thought about it a bit. The first four scores on my latest story were 2, 3, 4 and 5, without a word of explanation for the low scores — I was hoping for a full house which would have been quite fun.

It's like I said before, everybody has different standards. A story worthy of a vote of 3 to one person is worth a 5 to the next.

I think the problem is that some people think they're a cut above the rest and should therefore have special privileges, regardless of the quality of their stories. And when they don't get what they expect they lash out at others. It's a shame because it takes a lot away from the site and deters other people from joining and submitting stories.

I just vote 5 all the time now cause I'm terrified of being told off. I'm here to have fun and improve my writing, not argue with people.

I'm reluctant to vote on stories now because the voting system is far too complex for my tiny mind. You're not just basing a score on the merit of the story itself, you've also got to take in to account who the author is, who his/her friends are, and I would imagine many other things as well. I can't get my mind around it all.
This thread is about your favorite author(s), not about story scoring or the 1 to 5 scoring system. There have already been more than enough Forum threads on scoring.

Please keep this thread on topic. Who is your favorite author on Lush?
As far as my favorite Author, way to many to mention just one.

Ellenpiercemelville ranks high up there in my book!
for me it's a close run thing between Jasmine_X and Reddead2010. Both good authors, just cannot chose between them

? A True Story ?
Well, the two I'm currently stealing techniques from (let's be kind and call it homage) are Pervystoryteller and LaylaJune. PS because he is unafraid to push the story past the point of comfort for the reader, and LJ because she is so succinct at getting to the essence of a thing, without resorting to sentiment or cliche.

They are VERY different writers. But they both have well-honed, tightly controlled styles.

I can't name a favorite author. There are too many good ones. I have a list posted several pages back, but there are many more I've since discovered I would add.
Briana_Lovesit is absolutely awesome!
Have been LOVING Burquette recently.
