Twice in a week Damon?
As per Ejls' post, I received a warning email about 4 months ago through an account at asstr. I was in 2 minds to post the warning here for a variety of reasons. The primary one for not posting was it would help show how easy it is for these thieves to steal any work they find on the web, and try to sell it via Amazon's channels.
I'd contact Amazon straight away. They are fairly quick at removing work. The trouble is, if the thief is getting any sales whatsoever, they will simply create a new username, and do it all again.
I believe Amazon should really be doing more in terms of tracking these thieves (IP addresses, email addresses, paypal accounts, bank accounts etc - they have to be able to get the money somehow), as well as verifying the legitimacy of ownership of the work put up for sale in the first place.
Best of luck getting it removed and that account banned Damon. Please let us know how it goes.
I need your help. After looking at the links posted on this thread, a few pals and I were pretty effing disgusted. We've decided to blow this out of the water...aka launching a PR blitz on our sites, Amazon, social media, and encouraging our fans and bloggers to do the same. The more attention we garner the better.
This is where you come in. We need as much supporting info (links, names of the real authors & false if available, & so on) as you can dig up. It's difficult to ignore facts. We've also enlisted the help of our publishers (this sort of BS makes them look damn good!). Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

E. L. Doctorow Exactly! I wonder why more writers don't have their own place on the web.

E. L. Doctorow Argh thats so aweful Damon!! Never knew about things like kindle (til now) where it'd be so easy to plagiarize anothers writing for profit. Also wasn't aware these stories could be sold unless they were actually published through a company? That's kind of interesting but I want mine to be free for anyone to enjoy ^_~
on another note I checked out the Kindle Amazon site and "author" Carly Douglas used a picture of a friend of mine, and well known internet model for her cover art. You can't see her whole face but I'd know that photo anywhere :/ Already notified her webmaster to get the DMCA on it. Laaaaame. Kindle should have better screening, it seems anyone can post anything?!
Plagiarism is stealing. It is a low down thing to do!
A) I love your stories.... just sayin'
B) That link is no longer valid so maybe she's been shut down already?
C) You could probably contact Amazon directly with your dispute and they may be able to give you her real name to bring her to court?
Good luck and I'm sorry.
Doesn't appear that anything of mine has been stolen, however, I never, ever knew they published erotica!!! I can certainly try and see if some of my longer story ideas might fly there, and with an assumed pen name, I needn't worry about getting into trouble at work!!!
Spoke too soon, I was Googling titles, I tried text and found several of my stories on other erotica sites, but luckily not for sale. Most have been taken down, but there's someone claiming that they wrote Girl With A Secret, except their publication date was five months after mine. Nice try.

i hit contact us and sent them something saying to delete it now. it's my story and they have it as their featured story in their picture, and it pisses me off that it took me forever to even write my first story and then it ends up being plagiarized. And yes I do know the name under it says Kathy and yes that is my name but it's not me. I'm not 24 or from NY

Here you go...someone just shared this in a writing group, and I thought I'd share it here...
Amazon's Plagiarism Problem
Ooops...I deleted the link to that article on Fast Company, because it mentions another site a bit much...it's a good article, but it probably doesn't tell you a whole lot you can't figure out from reading this thread...
I don't know how I'd react if I found my work had been stolen. I just don't even want to think about it.
I'm sorry to hear that Katie.
If you post stories anywhere on the web, this can happen. We do our best to prevent it from happening, disallowing copy / pasting on story pages (most other sites do not take this step even), but content thieves who are determined, can always find ways around these things.
