I think if someone wants to come on here and "pretend" to be someone else, so be it. If it makes them feel better, more power to them. It is on you to how far you can trust someone. You can't just meet someone here and take what they say at face value. People lie, people lie all the darn time! I know many people get hurt. I know it drives some people crazy when a person doesn't tell them their name or give them a photo. Would that same person rather be lied to and given a fake name or photo, just to make them happy? Me, I didn't know when I joined about Lush's stock of avatar images, and was too lazy/tired to do a Google Image search for an avatar, so I ran upstairs and took my avatar pic in about 45 seconds.

I used to have a public image gallery, all with pics of myself in various states of dress and undress, but I had some issues with some members thinking that viewing those pics gave them carte blanche to say whatever to me, so I pulled those public images, and now only have a private gallery, available to no one. I am pretty much as relentlessly honest online as I am offline, so the idea of posting pics of some other random woman doesn't appeal to me, but if it appeals to other women, that's their right, to fill their public gallery with pics of women not themselves.

I don't have a problem with people posting pics on their profile, or as avatar, that are not of themselves. But if they explicitly state or even strongly suggest that it is them when it isn't, then they're just lying. If I'd found out that was the case for a random member: "who cares?" But if it were someone I'd consider a close friend, then I'd feel betrayed.

Whether or not people choose to interact on here through a fictional persona does not make this a 'fantasy site', but simply a story site with fantasy characters. People come to Lush for different reasons, and see it different ways. Your individual perception of the site says more about you than anything else.
