I wouldn't think of not reading someone's profile before accepting them as a friend. Usually, if I happen to see a story that looks interesting on the front page, I'll take a look at what they say about themselves before I read their story. If not before, then definitely immediately afterwards. I have to wonder about people that have been here for quite a while, yet have nothing in their profile. Are they trying to hide something?

I am of the habit of reading out profile of any and everyone which interests my eye, within the forum, rooms or whereever I get to see a new one and that find it pretty useful to decide whether or not to communicate further or not.
I like to keep my profile up to date as much as I can for the same reason, as I feel the primary interests and other listed information provides a good amount of information about the person to get it started, if we choose to socialize.

I spend my time in the chatrooms and I always read the profiles of whomever I'm speaking with. To me, if you don't, you're wasting your time. What I find amazing is how many times I'm asked what I'm into and when I say, read my profile it's easier that way, the other person doesn't or gets annoyed.
