Audio of stories

Two questions: what’s the procedure for adding audio to a story? I see that Jake and Jayne had done it on a story, and very successfully! Is it difficult?

Second question: if the audio is for a comp entry, do I wait until the comp is over?

Hey, unfortunately we can't add them at the moment. That was one of the things that never made the move, although older audios remain. It's on the list!

Is recording it on Vocaroo and putting the link on a promotion thread allowed?

Is it allowed during a comp?

Can't see any reason not to. You can link to stories and versions thereof elsewhere, from the forum and your profile, and this is no different.

If you are using Vocaroo or some third party audio hosting service, and they offer the ability to record locally then upload it, I'd take it. Just in case the service goes sideways. Wouldn't want you to lose all the hard work.

Download Audacity (it's free) and you can edit your takes.

Record and edit in Audacity, then export the result as a .wav file which you can upload into vocaroo. I don't know how long vocaroo keeps the files or what the size limit is.

File will continue to exist until the recorder deletes link from the same device it was created w/.

Just don't edit your voice. I recall a user telling me that they would record then edit said recording. I feel like that takes away from how you actually sound.

Which as I recall was absolutely dreadful! Didnt understand a damn word. 😇

I second Audacity. I always use it to edit audio files. The interface is a bit odd to get used to, compared to the intuitiveness of something like Sound Forge, but after that it's pretty simple.
