I've never seen this on Lush before. I checked my image gallery and avatar selection screen - they look fine. This would suggest the problem is on your end somewhere.
I would recommend as a first step: signing out of Lush, clearing down your browser cache, and then logging back in.

- Is it only the images you are uploading now, or all of them in your gallery which show as a 'black x'?

I'm on a desktop right not.
It's only the newer images. I can see most of my images.
some of my older images are black x's as well.
There's Windows 7 on this desktop and I update it often.
It's pretty odd.
I have a lot of images uploaded but I don't think that that matters?
(as long as I'm being helped, changing the order of my stories, I can only move them up or down manually? That's fine. I have so many poems. If that's the only way. One by one? Nothing faster I can do?)

Are you using Internet Explorer? I'd try another browser and see if it does the same thing.

I can't replicate this at all. I've asked Gav to take a look.
I am wondering if you've uploaded so many images there might be a soft limit of some kind (although you are on a gold unlimited uploads plan!).

It's a simpleton suggestion, but you might try logging out completely and logging back in. That might clear any conflicts in your profile.

changed my browser to Chrome and I still don't see all the new pics. Instead of seeing a black x it just shows a picture icon.
I uploaded 3 and I can see are picture icons.
