I've done a massive edit of my first chapter in my series to the point it's like a new story. Was I correct in just editing the original (and deleting the old sentence structure) or should I have done a whole new submission and deleted the old? It's gone from under 2000 words to over 8000.
I thought I read to edit the original, but that seems to be for minor corrections.

Although we do encourage authors to edit original stories rather than submit as new, in this case it does sound like the rewrite makes it a completely new story!
In this case of a radical rewrite, rather than an updating edit, either editing the original or writing as new (having deleted the old copy from Lush) would do.

I wasn't sure with it being so different to the original.
There isn't currently anyone looking at it is there? I'd hate to delete whilst someone is working on it.

Along the same lines Curvy. How about retelling a story from the opposite perspective? My first story was from my perspective and, looking back, it isn't as good as it could be - despite being my first and only Famous Story. I'd like to retell the story from HIS perspective as well as provide some more background to the actual sex scene.

Wouldn't this be a second story a sequel?
My two long series are both written from alternating perspectives and at some points I cover the same scene from the two sides. Having both adds, IMO, rather than detracts and so both should be there without one taking a preference over the other.

Anyway just
I thought a sequel was a continuation of the original story, not the same story from a different perspective. As I mentioned, it was my first story, and although it has become a Famous Story, it isn't that good from a technical standpoint. (I think the moderators had pity on me in approving it!) I'd like to rewrite the story from Walter's perspective although the actual sex scene and dialogue is accurate and true, the beginning of the story was changed quite a bit (I didn't know of Lush' no-nos then) and the ending was added on (by the moderator) to bring the story to a conclusion. I know better now and I'd like to rewrite the story from Walter's perspective with more emphasis on the events that led up to my anal deflowering in his office.

Sure thing, Meg. That would count as a new story if it was from the other person's perspective as separate to the original story. You could always link that with the original story using the blue series banner.

Thanks, Curvy. It has been one of the things on my mind. Once I read other author's stories, I was more and more dissatisfied with my first story. I think rewriting and expanding the story, using Walter's point of view, might give me the opportunity to polish the story and enhance it!
