So I am thinking of writing a story that is all in texts, or nearly all. Can Lush format it so that alternating blocks of text are aligned left, then right, then left again like a text conversation?

That would look significantly more ugly than you're imagining.

Text messages (in the way they appear on iOS) are all left aligned but the ones you send are indented so that right hand of each of the containing box is on the right hand edge of the screen. It's a minor difference but it is very noticeable.

You'll be much better off for readability to go with a similar structure to the one I used in Circle of Friends

Why not read some stories instead

The Cabo Connection is a good example of formatting instant messages or texts well.

The left-right thing, while possible, will not work, and I would actively discourage it.
Sigh. Thanks for the advice, everyone.

Left and right would look funny on here ....

I would suggest something like:

Verbal: Oh yeah, like what?

Van: Change of font!

Changing the font can indicate thoughts or text ....

of course, you have to look at the story unfold between the fonts to see if it works.

Why the long face? I am totally gonna use the font suggestion. Now if I can figure out how to tell a story only in texts (see, I just used the font thing!).
