I've tried a couple of option that seem to be common on other forums using bbcode, but none work.
Is it possible here? Am I just doing it wrong?

Personally, I just click More sizes on Google and simply select a size that seems appropriate. Sometimes only big pictures are available though.

I hope this helped a bit...
I don't think it's possible.

We have an image resizer here anyway, so anything over 800px wide I think it is, gets reduced.

I've noticed that is true with the profile'c comments section and the mini blog but in the forum it does not get reduced.

The more sizes option when searching like mentioned above makes it unneeded though.

If I think a photo is to large, I save it to my computer and re-size it myself on PSP (Paint shop pro) and save it to the size I want.
It's what I do for the photos I use for my cover photos.

I hope this helps.
Thanks for all the responses, but they were not what I was looking for ;) as I'm already aware of these options (except for the automatic downscaling of pics posted in profiles).

The forum uses BBCode and BBCode normaly provides (re)size options for images, either with [img=200x100]URL[/img] format or [img width="200" height="100"]URL[/img]. But these don't seem to work here, so I wondered whether the forum used a different format. Too bad it doesn't provide one at all

As for the alternatives: I can add TinEye to the list. It lets you search for variations of an image.

We strip a lot of the BBCode to stop automated spammers leaving their poo all over the place.

I hope you've noticed the largely clean environment we maintain.
