Silly feature request for authors

This is probably a stupid request, but I thought I'd put it out there in case I'm not the only one that might find it useful.

I'm a terrible self-editor, and after submitting stories, I often see a typo or other error that I missed. No matter how much I edit, or how many times I run it through style and grammar checkers, I always see what I meant, not what I actually wrote. A good example is that in my latest story, currently waiting for moderator approval, I missed an "a" in one sentence, and noted that I have 2 errant commas in another section.

It would be really cool, for me at least, if there was a secondary "notes for mods" while the story is pending. that way the authors could append the original notes to moderators. "Hey, I just noted that I'm moron and I forgot to put "a" in sentence three of paragraph four and the 7th paragraph has X & Y."

Of course, "learn to edit, properly, Krystal," is probably the proper response!

I think a secondary 'notes for mods' whilst a story is pending would be useful. I recently had to send a message when I realised that I had submitted a story without tags and another time I had omitted to put in the one line description of the content of the story. There is also, as you say, the possibility of discovering an error or omission after submitting despite read-throughs and editing.

I don't think it's 'a stupid request' at all, though it would take some of the fun out of reading stories. 😊

Would it take your 'spot the mistake' pleasure out of going through a story?

Great idea, Krystal. Or if someone (okay ME) accidentally gets 3 copies of the same story in the queue, I could add notes on the other two to "delete", 😊 instead of trying to hunt down a mod to delete them before too many people notice I was a numbnut. 😳

Good idea, although I think, rather than a note, I'd prefer that authors can pull their work from the queue and fix themselves. Less work for me that way 🀭. I'll ask tech x

This is along the lines of what I was going to suggest.

Especially as around competition times the queue can get pretty large, so would be better if stories (that aren't already locked by mods) could be pulled by the author.

It would save a lot of to-and-throwing.

I seem to write a story on average every 1.5 years.

Even better idea, Jen. I'd have no problem pulling my tripe out of the queue to fix and resubmit.
