Story removed 3 months after being approved and published

I’ve had a story removed about 3 months after it was published. It had a CNC theme which I outlined to the mods on submission and which was acknowledged and accepted.

I got an email today from an account which doesn’t accept replies saying it would be removed.

A couple of odd things

1. As I had a detailed conversation with the mod who approved it originally, what’s changed?

2. It seems cowardly to give notice of removal from a mailbox that doesn’t accept replies. Why not allow a conversation?

The no-reply account gave me the option to change the story removing the CNC aspect, but that would have killed the plot and so wasn’t feasible.

Hey ho, although very popular, it wasn’t my best story and so I won’t miss it, but just seems like mixed messaging from lush mods and / or admin

A better response would have been from the original mod who approved the story, explaining their mistake or change of mind, or change of regulations.

Anyone else had this type of experience?

CNC? No idea what that is other than a smart lathe. Have you DM'd the original mod to see if they know what happened? Mods do discuss this stuff backstage, or did in my day as a mod. That's probably the first thing I would do.

Ah. I probably knew that at some point and have forgotten due to lack of use. Yeah, that's definitely treading boundaries here. I am a bit surprised the first mod took it. Definitely want to get clarification from them or another moderator.

CNC in this context is Consensual/Non-Consent. It is a roleplay variant that has drawn a good deal of criticism. Even at its best, it walks a very fine line between acceptable kink and nope, nope, nope. I imagine there were enough of the latter from readers that a new judgement was made.

My brain cannot figure out consensual non-consent. 🤯

It was proposed, lawyer logic, as a means of circumventing moral restrictions in texts and graphic novels. If both sides of a conflict agree to no moral code of engagement, don't war crimes cease to exist, at least in their minds? Maybe, but a lot of people are going to disagree, I think.
