Story Views (as of today)

Finally, I get to use my otherwise useless degree in Mathematics. 😀

I think there might be a new issue with read counts. How can a story with 10 comments only have 2 reads? 😉

Developers say there's a backlog of jobs at the moment, and it should update correctly when that clears.

(There are a few hundred thousand to go)

Thank you, WW! And woohoo, I'm up to 3 reads now! Killing it! 🤣🤣 I thought it was the site subtly telling me to stay away from poetry and stick to stories. 🙄

And WOW to the backlog of jobs! Somebody pour coffee in your server. I do like my profile page that just popped up. 😊

A sort of offshoot of this, is it correct that between all of the 'new' stories on the home page at this moment, there have only been a total of 4 likes-and those spread over two stories?

I suppose if there are not any people reading the stories (or none indicated as reading them) there are not likely to be likes.

Oh! I just got a like notification on my new story!

Edit-although I got a notification of a 'like' it still says zero likes.

Sometimes I've noticed a delay between something appearing in one area (e.g. the forum, or a story comment) and the notification. Or vice versa. Guess not everything is real-time and it sends info between various site areas, which can take a variable amount of time based on how many other things the server is doing (like processing images, etc).

So that explains why almost all of the 'new' stories on the home page at the moment are saying zero likes and zero views?

Hopefully, everything will catch up eventually.

I wouldn't say it explains it, per se. It was more a general comment backing up what you said. But as there are a few hundred thousand things bring migrated in the background, there may be other things that fall by the wayside during the process, such as like and view counts. Or maybe there's something amiss that will crop up tomorrow and need fixing.

Give it a day to catch up with itself and revisit the pages then to see if anything's changed.
