Where has a story of mine disappeared to please?

I submitted a story earlier today and it said submitted and it had the blue bar above it saying 'pending.'

At this moment the story is nowhere to be seen on my page. It is not shown as published and it is not shown as unpublished. Does it temporarily disappear if it is being looked at by a Mod please?

Will it suddenly reappear on the front page and on my page?

Please advise.

Hi, Paul!

Is your story The Ladies Fashion Shop - Part 2? This is in the queue, awaiting verification.

Yes, it is.

Thank you. Do they normally 'disappear' from the author's page though please?

It certainly is not on my page, I just checked again in case I was going mad.

and will it reappear on my page please?

It's on the last page (page 20 for you). Don't ask me why!

So it is!

Thank you for finding it for me, I would never have looked there!

Whilst it is nice that my story has been found, I hope that it does not remain on my last page because anyone that wants to read my latest story will not be able to find it.

Now back on my page 1-that was fun playing hunt the story.

Yeah, the same thing is happening to me. The story is at the back of the published stories, but it still has the blue "pending" bar over it, which is sort of a contradiction! I didn't get a "we have approved your story" message yet. It seems that stories go through some kind of limbo stage before being posted? Sorry, Jen, I know you have a lot to deal with, but if you don't know why this is happening, then who does?

The only thing different is the order.

Previously stories would go for moderation, show pending status, but keep their place on your profile. Now when they're pending moderation they appear at the bottom of your stories list. When your story is published, as Paul saw above, they return to the top.

The blue pending status means your story is in the queue to be verified (yours is, I've checked).

I suspect the change might be to do with submission Vs publication date beating tweaked.

All understood now and I will know in the future. I am sure you will appreciate that it was a bit disconcerting at first to discover that a submitted story had apparently 'disappeared.' With it having been discovered by you on my last page, the fear then was that it would stay there after publication.

I suppose if I was going to make a suggestion for future changes, it would be that published and unpublished stories not be in separate categories, but rather in one list as before. It's not a deal breaker, however, and not high priority. Maybe it's just is the way the new software has to handle things.

The same thing has happened to me. I put a macro up, everything seemed to go as normal but I didn't see it in my list. So I did it again, and again. It was then I noticed I had 6 pages of my stories instead of 5. And there they were, all three of them. So I deleted two and left one awaiting mods. It's still there this morning and now I have a page 6 with nothing on it. Very strange.

Well, there was a backlog for the moderators to read, so I suspect it's going to take longer than usual for stories to get approved. The one pending story I have is still at the end of the list, and I think it's going to be there for a while. It used to be that I'd get the next story into editing mode while the previous one was still pending. I think I'm going to hold off on that for the moment.

I actually think they may have a problem at the moment. No new stories have been posted for over nine hours and that's unusual. My story has appeared in the wrong place on my list. It's showing as pending approval but I can see it as being the first story I wrote. It should be at the top of my story list but is at the bottom. And as I say, it's usual for Lush not to post new stories more regularly than every 10 hours.

There isn't a problem other than the night shift being lazy, lol.

Seriously though, stories are going through fine, people are just a bit knackered, still learning new processes and also want to have a bit of fun when they come here. There will be a backlog for a while yet, but it will get cleared eventually.

The reason unpublished stories move to the bottom of your published list now is because they don't yet have a published date, that's all. They're still in the queue in their usual place because the queue uses submission date.

Once published with the date populated, they go back to the top.

Thank you very much for this explanation, Jen. It was just a surprise finding my story 'gone,' hence my starting this thread.

Thank you Jen, you have, as always, been most helpful. I'm also getting used to the new way of doing things and seeing my story at the bottom of my list came as a bit of a shock. I will know where to look next time. Thank you again.
