I saw Kingsman, The Golden Circle and it fucking kicks ass. I love it.

I'll see it a few more times, believe that.

i think we might see it sunday - loved the first one. smile

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Me too! I mean loving it. Lol

And Taron and Mark too. They are so hot, I'd have a threesome with them. Lol

But was it good? I didn't think the book was scary either--I'm not scared of clowns--but the relationship between all the kids was so well-written. Loved the book even if it wasn't scary.

I saw IT and I loved it. Of course, I have read the book an insane amount of times since I was 12. It's my go-to book when I have nothing else. Despite the fact that I hate clowns, I have hated clowns my entire life. I can't see their faces and that bothers me.

I watched The Hitman's Bodyguard last night. It was good. Selma Hayek's character was great.

I have a new story out! Wish You Were Here A teasing sub may I have pushed too far, but the punishment is oh so sweet.

If you haven't already, please check out my story with leftlingula. A husband and wife rediscovered each other and It all started with one simple word...

I loved IT too. It NAILS what is so good about the book, the relationship between the kids, and how they talk like real kids, and have real issues. I didn't think it was too scary, though it has some moments. It's just a really good story, and a really good movie. I'll watch it again.

And the set-up for the inevitable sequel was, for once, unforced. It seemed perfectly natural there would be a chapter two that gets to the other stuff in the book.

Probably the best movie I've seen so far this year.

At first, I was skeptical due to the fact that Angelina Jolie directed it. Her previous directing endeavors have been drama-heavy to say the least. It is based on the memoir of a girl that lived through the Cambodian genocide.

This will not be very successful movie with mainstream audiences for a few reasons. First of all, there is not a word of English spoken in the entire film. Second of all there is no "white savior" storyline that will connect with North American audiences. The general public usually only wants to to see genocide if its seen through the eyes of an English speaking protagonist. Schindler's List, Salvador, Hotel Rwanda, The Killing Fields.... North American audiences need someone to connect to...to ground themselves with in order to provide empathy.

This movie has none of that. It's seen through the eyes of a Cambodian child and there is absolutely no western point of view.

It also doesn't beat you over the head with imagery. ( like "The Zookeeper's Wife.) It's very subtle. Don't expect 2 hours of horrific action sequences. The entire film is very understated.

It's a Netflix movie so it wont have the lobbying behind it come awards season, but It should be nominated for best foreign language film. The cinematography is also very well done.

"First they killed my father" is available now on Netflix.

Just watched it. Thanks for pointing it out. Might have missed it otherwise. It sure is a great movie about a horrible past. The young actress who plays Loung (Sreymoch Sareum) does an amazing job.

Just refreshed on Blade Runner...

Looking forward to watching Blade Runner 2049 later this week...

Virunga is a documentary from 2014. It won numerous awards including a Peabody Award as well a nomination for Academy Award for Best Documentary.

The Virunga is a National Park in the easternmost region of The Democratic Republic of the Congo (formally Zaire). Besides being a conflict zone, it is best known as the last refuge of the mountain gorilla.

Aside from being a political “hot zone” this region has also recently become the central focus of several petroleum companies that seek to exploit the National Park for economic benefit. This film focuses on the Park Rangers who fight to protect the Park and the animals within from poachers and oil company-employed mercenaries who continuously attempt to assassinate both the gorillas and the rangers as the two opposing sides in the civil war close in on the region. Both civilians and animals are caught in the middle as the oil companies manipulate both sides.

It also follows a French reporter as she goes undercover in an attempt to uncover the activities of the SOCO oil company who pay poachers for access to the mineral resources of the region. There is some seriously haunting imagery of slaughtered elephants and murdered gorillas as well some emotionally powerful video coverage of baby gorillas shaking and cringing as the sounds of machine guns and artillery fire close in around them.

Most of the film is in French though, with English subtitles. If I had to make a criticism, I feel as though it would have benefited from some voice over narration.

Virunga is currently available on Netflix (I think). It has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.3 rating on IMDB.

If you are interested in this subject, then I also recommend “The Gorilla Murders” by National Geographic.
Saw -- American Assassin

Want to see -- Geostorm
Saw Bladerunner 2049. Stunning film, beautifully shot, well told, and definitely the best movie I have seen this year.

Looking forward to The Last Jedi, also very eager to see The Princess Bride on the big screen this weekend.

blew all my expectations out of the park. everything about it was pretty much perfect, imo. the look, the cinematography, the music, the story, the acting. gripping from start to finish.

fuck. yes. BRING IT!

Say. Her. Name.

We are watching a scary movie every night. Last night was Maximum Overdrive. Delightfully stupid. Written and directed by Stephen King, who was clearly only interested in having fun, and the fun is contagious.

The best of the lot so far is Dark Water. Really good movie (if a bit slow).
The Rocky Horror Picture Show, our DSTV show at the moment, on one of the channels (the 100 movies to see before you die), this was one, saw it before but watched again...

Enjoyed this a lot more than I expected.
Went to see a special screening of Casablanca yesterday as part of the 75th anniversary celebration of the film. God, what an amazing fillm!
Watched The Abyss at the weekend. Seen it before but its a super film.
WATCHED:
SPIDER-MAN HOMECOMING

Not good.
Watched ... Thor Ragnarok.

Want to see ... Black Panther and Justice League.
John Carpenter's - 1982 film: The Thing - it was released shortly after ET The Extraterrestrial so it kind of got swamped out & it was widely criticized as being schlock, at the time. But it's aged very well & there are even a few excellent comedic moments.

Then I watched the 2011 prequel also titled: The Thing.

Also widely panned as being a crappy movie. I thorougly enjoyed both. The special effects were ahead of their time in 1982.

I often disregard the profe$$ional critics.

Wish list;

Atomic Blonde
War for the Planet of the Apes (or whatever it is called)
Paddington 2

Charlize makes Jason Bourne look like a rank amateur & The Apes capitalize upon human stupidity. Both were enjoyable, although I had to watch Atomic Blonde twice so my brain could make the hookups.

Thank you. Atomic Blonde was recommended to me by Amy. And as for the Apes, I have seen the others, so just completeing the set, although i have enjoyed them so far. Paddington 2 is supposed to be so much better than the first one

Recently watched War For The Planet Of The Apes & Cars 3. I really enjoyed both,
but for very obvious different reasons.

And then, most recently, watched Lion. It was another movie I did NOT want to
watch. It had depressing written all over it. And it did and still does. However...
Wowza. There are some things I can personally relate to, but it is difficult to
transform a great story into even a good motion picture. It does have some
'weaker' aspects that I suspect could not be fully developed due to perceived
audience focus time constraints, but if you need your tear ducts cleaned out,
see this flick, if you have not already done so. I mocked some things in the
beginning, but it all made sense towards the end.
We should have known when we walked into Murder on the Orient Express that it was going to suck when the entire audience was over 65.
Atomic Blonde

I had mixed feelings on this one. I really wanted to love it, but was concerned they'd fuck it up some how.
It started great, the soundtrack was fabulous. When you hear Bowie scream, "... putting out the fire with gasoline... ",
it sent shivers down my spine. Great Fucking Line! And not one, but two Depeche Mode songs, well bloody hell... I
was in heaven. Lots of action. Great fighting scenes. Fun dialogue. Sexy sex scene. ;) Ending disappointed a little,
but I'd see it again and do recommend it.

Really enjoyed the Justice League movie.

Lady Bird looks like it will be a good film. I'll have to try it.
