Laughter!
Of all our inventions for mass communication,
pictures still speak the most universally understood language.

Walt Disney
Crickets
Rain
Howling wind (go figure)
His voice
Dead silence
The sweet sound of the air conditioner.
Wind in the tree tops
Rain on a roof
Crashing of waves
Rain (both soft and hard)
Thunderstorms (softer ones with more booming thunder as opposed to cracking)
Waves rolling/crashing
Soft wind/breeze
Slow piano notes/songs
A fan (I have to have one on during the night to help me sleep; hate total silence, I need white noise)
Trickling brook or stream
Flute and violin
His reassuring voice

Smooth jazz.
Piano.
The rain.
Ocean waves (light, not loud).
Breeze through the trees.

Elton John's singing voice.

Whispered words in the night from someone you love.

I used to be unable to sleep without the sound of a decently loud air purifier. Weird, but true.
Piano
Waves at a beach, it makes no difference where or how rough
The rustling of palm trees on a Caribbean island (ugh, so soothing)
Louis Armstrong singing

Imagining how it would sound to hear MM whisper these faves to me in the dark, candlelit glow of a SeaHawk win over the Rams.
Ocean waves
Birds chirping
New age music
baby laughing

Probably soft growling whispers as you gloat.

Wondering now if those roles were reversed.

A niggling purr? That sounds interesting. I don't think I've ever head of gloating pulled off quite like that.

Anyway. More to add to my list.

Mmm.

I wouldn't really classify this as an abstracted "sound" but as a small tike, I could NEVER get to sleep without the Lion King soundtrack playing. So, I suppose those "sounds" from the album would be considered comforting.

btw, seahawks, 2 for 2. how's your team doing? oh, for the record, i enjoy watching soccer - i don't watch a lot of it, but i do enjoy it. and rugby. now THERE'S a sport. and purring is the worlds best sound - when my girls do it it's like instant bliss.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

My new Seahawk friend. You rock Sprite!
Thunderstorms and rain always comfort me. Some people may have a completely opposite reaction. I also love rooster crows and the sound of tall rustling grass.
Rain or the ocean
rain, rustle of leaves in a gentle breeze in autumn, slow instrumental music.

and above all her voice whispering sweet nothings in my ear :-)
Rainforest, waves and heavy rain with thunder
Wow, sounds that I find comforting....well, let me see...

The sound of the rain as it strikes the roof or the ground outside.
The sound of thunder as it rumbles in the distance.
The sound of the birds as they greet the morning.
Crickets! definitely crickets are soothing for me at night.
Geckos chirping and singing their songs as they feast on termites on those still summer nights.
The purring of my cat as she snuggles against me cozy and content.
The sound of my lover's breathing as he sleeps next to me.
The sound of my mother's voice as a child, telling me she loves me.
the babbling of a brook
the tide against the shore
the wind in deciduous tree leaves
the sound of my love's voice whispering sweet nothings in my ear
the sound of a baby's laughter
the sounds of sunrise
the priceless sounds of a woman enjoying intercourse with the man she loves (or are those more exciting sounds???)
the sound of your lover's voice in your head as you read a love letter she has written you
etc
his voice sayin the things that make my heart skip a beat....the sound of the rain hittin the roof...the thunder breaking silence....the sound of a locomotive off in the distance......70's rhthym and blues....the sound of air brakes setting on a rig....old time gospel.....sung acapella....my ma's voice.....hmmm.
I love absolute silence...that to me is perfect.

A niggling purr would not be a sufficient purr. But, great use of your vocabulary. I commend you.

<purring succulently>
The crackling of a fire in a fireplace during winter is pretty comforting.
waves breaking on the shore, wind rustling thru the leaves, rain on a rooftop, coffee pot gurgling almost done, hearing ''I love you''
