I haven't had an opportunity yet, but something I've wanted to do for a while, & as far as I know, it's legal all over, so anyone can join me!
Instead of saying "bits & pieces" (aloud in conversation), reverse it to "pieces & bits". I heard someone say it (not sure when) on a (I think) fictional TV show, & wondered why they didn't say it the other way. It hit me immediately there's that Dave Clark 5 song, but I think the phrase came before the song that got the title, & people just kept using the phrase that way.
Myself & my only sibling were each/both school spelling champs decades ago, & I know there is/are rules on how to spell things, but I don't believe phrasing like that has such rules, so I say, "Dare to be different," & change them when you come across them.
