NOT an official stance, but... prospective poets, please read.

Okay, like i said, this is not an official stance, just my own pet peeve, but people, we're getting in a lot of downer poems in the love poems - yes, love does deal with heartache sometimes, but really, it DOES say love poems, not emo poems. please consider that most people are coming here to read erotica and really, it's turning into a bit of a downer to pop into the love category anymore - gotten to the point where i won't even read the poems. Like I said, not an official stance, but yeah, maybe think about it before you hit 'submit'? i have enough depression in my life already - reading is, kind of, my escape.

thanks,

As a writer of poetry as well as stories, I am concerned about this, since several of my poems might fall into the "emo" category, although I try to give them a happy conclusion - darkness to light. But if we are allowed only to post what are basically optimistic poems, that is to neglect the whole are of unrequited love.
I hope that we will be warned when a poem is to be removed since that does give us a chance to post the, on StoriesSpace.

It's not about allowance. No one's telling you that you can't post them anymore. It's just her opinion, and a personal suggestion. We're all allowed those, yes?

If you're worried that there will be some unspoken vendetta against the sadder poems amongst the moderating team, don't. We leave our personal preferences at the door. Lush is what it is because of all the writers and poets that submit their work. Yes, even the sad love poetry. Keep them coming. Just... maybe try some happy every once in a while (that's to all the sad poets, not just you, dear).

Unfortunately broken hearts and jealousy fuel great creativity. A lot of the greatest literature, both in the novel and poem form was born out of that. We all can name more hit songs that are about sad love than we care to. A lot of great art comes out of those emotions too. Just remember that your writing here on Lush needs to be erotic or romantic love or a combination of that.

Will, don't worry about this too much. As she said, it's not an official stance. If it was, I probably couldn't write another poem here. :P
Well... that got completely blown out of context. all i said was, maybe submit a few poems that aren't weepy every once in a while for, you know, variety's sake?

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

This was a VERY important part of my post - not an official stance. the only things not allowed here are , , underage, , drugging, and Liz's cookie poems (which is a shame, because I'd EP them if i could - they're brilliant - you have NO idea what you're missing out on). we are NOT suddenly going to start removing poems. for one, it would be too much work. for another, if it was okayed, it was okayed. seriously, i am starting to wish i never said anything.

the OFFICIAL stance: feel free to be as depressing as your heart desires. Just don't expect me to be reading that shit when i don't have to (sadly, it's my freaking job, so...).

emoetry.com available, add to cart. hmm...

This is primarily an erotic story site. It was designed as such, and remains as such. If it gets to the stage where poetry is taking over, I will take measures.

All joking aside, this has been playing on my mind for a while. The most likely change would be to have story listings shown on the front page, by default. We would add a tab for poetry (still on the front page), so those who wish to view poems, can click the tab and that's all they'll see. Members could choose whichever front page listing set they wish.

Ok I know I am going to get my arse kicked but Sprite what about the forums about depression??

We all need an outlet and for me writing the shit that's happened is helpful to me sometimes, I know you posted in forums like that and quite rightly so given all you have been through and bravely shared with us and for this I commend you.

I feel for you I always have Sprite but I also get upset reading those forums too as my Ex was/is a manic depressive through no fault of his own but from a childhood experience and I have to deal with him all the time so tbh its hard for me to read it on here.

You are going to tell me not to read the forum well I don't anymore, I just chanced upon it but I can see that it helps you all to know you are not alone in your struggles.

But for me and ok I only wrote a couple of sad ones I totally love my more chipper ones that make people laugh but thats not always how one is feeling and writing is a good outlet for us all I think.

That said I had one removed recently i was fine with it, it wasn't even about me it was for a friend its for you story mods to decide what's ok.

But still, if you cant write poems about sad feeling on a sex website should there be sad forums for people who need to reach out and express their emotions?

PS I also want to know why typing the word arse comes up as a typo..its how we spell it in the uk..just saying

No arse kicking, simply this. LushStories primary reason for existence is as an erotic story site. While the forums and other activities have become a huge part of Lush, they are all secondary to the reason this site was created. things that effect the prime reason d'etre get scrutinized. the rest of it, not as much.

the comp? nope. I wrote some stuff for it for my fellow mods, but i'm not putting it out there. not really much of a poet, honestly.

no - i really did write three of them. Buz and Liz can verify that, if you'd like.
