After a bit more than four years, I've managed to post 100 stories here. I even think some of them are pretty good, though they never seem to spark much of a fire in general, but that's just a measure of the kindling I've been able to provide. For now, I'll keep pushing my pencil across the page, hoping that I can warm some readers with a few minutes of pleasure and maybe a smile or two.

But that's all besides the point. What I really want to do is give an enormous thank you hug to all the friends, mods, and readers who have made my time in LushLand such a joy. It's an honor being allowed to share my jots here. I don't know how I would have gotten through the last few years without this refuge.

Now everyone head over to Rump's -- drinks and kisses are on me today.

It would seem to me that judging the impact and true worth of one's efforts would be displayed best by the people who seek out your work consistently and eagerly. At least, that is my criterion. By that measure, I am sure you would find your work is quite pleasing to those who are in the know.

Congratulations on the 100 mark, but more than anything it's great to hear that you find Lush to be the welcoming sanctuary that it is. Same for me, a place to get away from the world and just do my thing among friends - as long as I remember to stay the hell away from the Think Tank.

And your writing is excellent. If I were to guess at why you don't have a zillion followers it would not be the quality of the writing, but rather that you tend to post more in Microfiction and Poetry, neither of which get front page exposure. That's a very limiting factor, I think. Stop hiding your very bright light under a basket and write a few longer stories. Shine on, Kistin, and show folks you've got the chops. (Take that for what it's worth...)

Thank you for the lovely words and compliment. I have written a lot of micros recently, but I have done 15 long pieces as well. Unfortunately, that part of my brain kitchen has gone out on strike. We are in negotiation, so hopefully I will be able to finish the half dozen languishing on the back of the stove soon.

I can completely relate to that! I have a badly overstuffed folder of partial stories, the ideas and/or enthusiasm for which deserted me midstream. Maybe some day some of them will take on new life, but I'm not optimistic.
