Dear Lushies,
I wasn't intending to submit anything to the current competition. But then I went and got my dusty copy of the Eddas off my shelf, and felt inspired to try my hand at some alliterative Norse-style verse. The result is here:
A Little Ljóðaháttr
If you like Norse epics, Teutonic sagas, Wagnerian operas, or Marvel movies (!) - or even if you have a secret abiding affection for eternal love (tell it not in Gath!) - you may enjoy it...
Here's some feedback so far:
"Your gift for creative 'pastiche' (in its true sense of celebrating an artistic style) is once more employed to utterly exquisite effect... brilliant" (naughtyannie)
"What a great piece, a tale of desire and courage, tragedy and love, and of belief and a willing embrace of fate all in verse... Brilliantly done!" (Stormdog)
"eloquent presentation of a universal truth, one that compels repeat visits to soak in the artistry" (FirstBlush)
"gorgeous, stunning ... fabulous" (CuriousAnnie)
"unique entry to this comp by a unique, brilliant writer" (KimmiBeGood)
