I hit the 8k word mark but I'm not done yet. I suspect it will go over 10k and I will have to tweak it down when I do the re-read and edits etc. I think this is the longest story I've written so far. That is, if it is still 8k or so words once I am officially done LOL

Heh yeah. My latest revisions have increased mine to around 8.6k words, but that was mostly beefing up some scenes and not full rewrites. It's basically ready to go once my other story in the editing queue gets reviewed 🤣

Edit: literally one minute after I post this my in review story was approved 🤣🤣🤣

Edit 2: Now that mine is in for review, I can read the two other submitted stories, finally 😎

I promise I will read it, when I finish mine. I am so close now, I need a read enough, and I will use the text-to-speech robot - who cannot pronounce French words so I have to stop and laugh at some of them. It might take a while, and I think there will be a very horny robot somewhere afterwards. Somewhere, someone will have to deal with the mess.

OMG I'm glad I am not the only person who does a final pass with the text reader to audibly catch anything I missed by reading.

Question 1. Why doesn't it work ? (FYI I'm writing and it isn't working now...) I do have a free account.

Question 2. Do you have to pay for it now? It worked for a few seconds when I pasted my competition entry into the submission box, ready to edit. The 'G' icon was there but after a few edits I got : "You are signed out of Grammerly" - no I wasn't.

Question 3. What am I doing wrong?

The free version of Grammarly is working fine for me at the moment over here in the UK.

Ok, I uninstalled Grammarly and immediately got the questionnaire: "Why did you uninstall Grammarly?" You could almost feel the hurt. But I had every intention of re-installing it and now it seems to be working fine! btw It's a Ukrainian company. Let's hope and pray the Russians don't bomb its HQ.

My Grammarly died while editing my comp entry, so I just eyeballed rest, but it started working again on a new doc. I have the paid version and noticed a new check for AI generated code. Before it died I ran it, curious, and it flagged three sentences as suspected AI-generated. Two were pretty generic sentences and one was “The press would be spurting in their pants over this one.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Really? That’s a sentence AI would generate?!?! 😳 (I don’t use AI, btw)

I've got about three stories that are in this state right now, waiting to be finished. I'm not quite ready to completely abandon them yet, but they're on hold for now. None of them were for the comp, which I've been struggling to get inspired for. But then I just knocked out an 8K non-comp story in a couple of days because the mood hit and the concept seemed to speak to me (a teen Hallmark-ishly wholesome movie character dropped into the porno-verse). The urge to write comes and goes. I don't try to fight it either way, but follow it when it calls.

Ca y est! 9,651 words... and 33 hours of work, according to Word.

I am divorcing Grammarly, and I sexed up the Microsoft Word robot, and he is smoking a Gitanes and looking pleased with himself. That was not good enough, no, so I paid for a month on ElevenLabs and made a very sexy English woman read it back to me with feeling.

I am smoking the Gitanes, and very word blind.

Give me a few days. A little part of me is afraid to publish it. I think I have Stockholm Syndrome.

I have a subfolder in my "Writing/In Progress" folder called "Under Review". If I actually finished everything that is in there, I would be the most productive I have been since I started writing. Sadly, some of them date back years, at least the ideas.

This is making me think of whether there is any "proper" forum area here for one to just kind of muse about the stories you are currently writing lol. None of the forum categories seem to fit. But sometimes I feel like airing out thoughts, even if no one is listening 🤣
