Thank you very much for the kind comments.
I suppose it is the nature of competition, but for every one who is pleased there must be two or three who are disappointed. I read some fantastic stories and envied some of the creativity. Thank you to whoever did the judging – it must be hard.
I've been lucky. I hope someone who is disappointed today has my share of good fortune in the next competition.

Many congratulations to all who made the top ten, and especially to puddleduck, WannabeWordsmith and littleduchess.
And congrats too to all my fellow "equal 11th placers". It was fun to read what everyone did with the girl in the photo (I mean "did" in a literary sense...honest!)

@browncoffee: I totally dedicate my success to you this time around. Without your entry, mine would have been less than half the story it turned out to be. Thank you for being awesome and inspiring me to do better.
Hey, no worries. You can wire the hundred bucks over to my swiss bank account at your earliest convenience.
Lol, no. It was all you!
PD is so gracious. I'd be like, 'fuck y'all. I won!'
I'm so happy for Gil too who placed with her unforgettable story about cocktail umbrellas. All the top ten were actually fantastic. I'm amazed at how many brilliant writers are on here.

Dude, you were in my top ten!
Aw, thanks. I should add that my ambitions when entering the competition were: to have some fun, see if I could improve a bit as a writer, and see if I could get some feedback from some of the awesome writers around here. Mission accomplished!
And thanks to nicola, and the judges, and everyone else who made the competition happen!

I am actually shocked to see my name in among this group of amazingly talented writers. I am grateful for everyone who read my story and had nice things to say about it.
There were some fantastic stories with such different takes on the theme. I have to agree that Puddleduck's was the one to beat. It was a lot of fun to see what everyone came up with.
I have to thank Browncoffee (Hannah)
too for suggesting my character should be a cocktail umbrellas salesperson. It started as a bit of a joke to me but then I became obsessed with trying to work in my cocktail umbrella collection into the story in a natural way.Congratulations to Puddleduck, WannabeWordsmith and Littleduchess and everyone who placed and entered. It ended up being a lot of fun for me and hopefully helped me grow as a writer.
Gravelly-Voiced Fucker
Congrats to all the winners and runners-up! The prompt photo for the contest was a bit cliched (I'm guessing on purpose), so it was really cool to see such non-cliched stories result from it.
I'll buy everyone who won, or placed, or entered, or even read one of the entries a Corona Fog at the bar tonight! I'm sure Bill won't mind when he return to a bar utterly emptied of alcohol. And cocktail umbrellas.

I'm so happy to see some names in the Top 3 and the Top 10 we don't see often enough. Congrats to you all!
Candyland Kitten
Wow. I'm in awe. I've read many of the comp stories and can't believe I placed at all, let alone 3rd. There were soooo many talented and creative pieces. What an incredible community of artists and personalities and I'm so lucky that I am getting introduced to more every day.
I totally agree that Puddleduck was the clear winner to me. I loved her piece so much...a true master class in erotica. And I would name all the others I loved but really I'd just be reciting everyone else named here and a couple more.
Thanks so much for everyone's kind comments both here, in messages to me and on the story itself. I appreciate each one more than you can possibly know.

Congratulations to everyone who placed in a talent packed top ten. I read so many great entries. Thanks to Lush for a great contest idea that generated so many unique entries.
Active Ink Slinger
Huge congrats to everyone who placed. Some seriously Ace stories there.
It was a really good competition, and fascinating to see how everyone interrogated the picture differently. Apparently a picture not only says getting on for 5000 words, it is also capable of any number of interpretations.

Congratulations to all chosen for the top placement - but really, all of us are the winners because we have these terrific stories to read. Great job everyone!
God Empress of Lush
Congratulations to the top three, and the runners-up. I really ought to have had a flutter on Puddleduck's story winning: it sang out as something special to me.
