(For the record, avrgblkgrl poems were one of the catalysts for me to start writing my own - just to put into perspective how big of an honour this is.)

Congratulations to the winners and runners up.
I have taken the results of this competition as an indication that my belief that I could write reasonable poetry as a delusion, so I have removed all my poems from public view. I am not sure whether this is because they are technically flawed, or because they are just rubbish. I will publish mo more here.

Congrats to all the winners and honorable mentions....there was some really exceptional work submitted. Be it a poem or story our personal preferences may vary but the quality of work pretty much blew me away. I knew damn well my entry wasn't going to beat out the poems mentioned but it was a blast writing and submitting it. And I got a shiny new badge too!!
Now go write something...I bet you can.

CONGRATULATIONS to all the winners!!
...and to everyone who had the guts to submit an entry after reading 'I Hate You'. I think most all of us knew, as soon as we read Reggie's poem, that her entry would be unbeatable! Such a gifted gal!
...but to those who have taken the results of the judging as discouragement, all of life is a competition, because ultimately, you are competing against yourself, to improve, to grow, and to learn. Withdrawing is surrendering to your own fears of inadequacy, and that is the death of your soul. Everyone who competes is a winner. Giving up is the only losing strategy.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.
