Correct. By default, stories will be viewable as a pdf, the author can turn this option off from their settings page. I have this working over at Stories Space for those of you with accounts over there.

In fear of repeating myself, if you publish your stories anywhere on the web, on any site whatsoever, they can be replicated elsewhere. Adding right click disable helps fend off the laziest content thieves, but there are easy ways around all forms of document protection out there.

Even if you made a site totally read only, thieves would probably just hire a team of english speaking 3rd worlders, to type the stories out, if they really wanted your stories. Most of the time, they will steal from somewhere else.

We try our best to limit the content theft, but there's only so much we can do on that front.

The only way to be totally safe, is not to publish them anywhere. That kind of defeats the purpose for most people!

Well, as far as I can tell, the people stealing the stories that we can find aren't getting any money or anything for it, so if you make it at all hard for them to steal then they'll go somewhere else instead, rather than spend a lot off time and effort writing it all out.

Besides, stopping even one person from copying it is a good thing, it means there are less places that the stories can be copied from which will stop it happening as much in the future, as I see it.

I've long wondered if a sort of batshit-crazy sister site, perhaps registered with the name: FlushedStories dot com ... would be an attractive option for those Lushstories submitted works of dreck which were repeatedly rejected from publication here.

Sort of a 3-strikes and you're out option - similar to the California penal system. There is no rehabilitation occurring for those who submit their droll efforts, but they do get their attention whoar fix satisfied and there is no arguing back and forth between moderators and those pretending to be authors either.

However, there are already pseudo competitor websites which pretty much publish that shit anyway.

The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.

Well, yeah...I guess writing a bad story is no guarantee that nobody is going to steal it...

But, if they steal your stories and get lousy ratings and feedback...chances are they won't come back and steal from you again...

Btw, I'd like to reiterate what Nicola said about as long as your stories are published anywhere, they can be stolen...there is absolutely nothing a site like this can do to prevent theft, and it is wrong for anyone to feel that Lush should in any way, shape or form be held accountable...

I'm saying this, because we've already put the changes into effect over on Stories Space...the right click has been disabled on stories...but it took me, a 50 year old guy who did not grow up with computers, less than an hour to get around that...I have to assume that any 12 year old kid already knows how...

The same goes with pictures posted in profiles, the same trick I used to copy stories works for pictures here...and I demonstrated that by copying one of Nicola's pictures from her profile page and posting it in the moderator forum over on Stories Space...

Sorry Nic...just really trying to prove the point that you already stated here earlier...

So, in other words, I don't want to hear anyone blame Lush or Stories Space if there stories or pictures get stolen...and I work over on the sister site, and can assure you that this matter has been getting a lot of attention lately...

There is nothing a site can do to prevent people from stealing...the only thing a site like this can be reasonably expected to do is be proactive when it's reported that stolen stories appear on the site, and in that the Lush team has been exceptional...

I'll get off the soapbox...I will say there have been a few notable improvements over on Stories Space with the advent of Version 2...still trying to figure them all out myself, but you can now see all your friend's activity, even if they comment on someone's profile page for instance...and there are improvements as far as the ability to share a story link on Facebook and the like...

And I'm told the site is three times faster...

While I was there, I tried to right click on a story and do have to say, that will stop some people from stealing. Not knowing much about computers myself, it took me less than two minutes - after trying the right click and viewing the source - to finally work out a way to download the page (which took less than a second) for people to be able to copy and paste on to another site. But as DM said, it's not just Lush, it's everywhere that it can be done.

I just went over to stories space and now can't wait for the Lush V.2 to arrive. I love that you can see the one liners on the front page; looks fantastic!

Will the new version of the site function on mobile? like I get some weird glitches and annoying problems everyday but I can use the site for the most part. I hope I'll still be able to go on, oh and if it does will we still
be unable to upload stories, pictures, and anything else along those lines?

Hi Garza,

The new version is pretty much the same as the current one, the data is stored and served in a different way though. I think everything that doesn't currently work on mobile, still won't work in the new version! I could be wrong, you can beta test for us and report any problems you have. Help >> Contact Us >> Problem with the web site.

We have someone working on our purpose built mobile platform, it should be with us early next year. Once Gav has finished this latest release, he will also be helping out with it.
