Me, I don't know nuttin' about the new Micro category, except I've been in favor of having one for some time now. If there were any announcements I've missed them completely. My befuddlement includes, but is not limited to:
1. Why launch it while a contest is still open, and
2. why 'require' a photo be included with a submission?

Nic, JAS, you might want to consider changing 'required' to 'suggest' or maybe 'recommend' when it comes to including a photo. That way Lushers with poor or no vision can join in the fun. BTW, does the new category have any impact on the minimum character requirement?

BTW, were you 'tied up' or 'tied down'? Just wondering. ;)

I like it with the requirements...requiring a picture might eliminate those that just try to string 100 words together. The Corona Virus has already prompted a lot more people to write more stories. New stories are barely on the front page, an hour any more.

I like the image idea because, with stories so short, it's kind of nice to have a visual as well. Considering the old saying about pictures, it makes the story 1,100 words. But I put cover images on most of my stuff anyway so it's no extra work for me.

I hear Rump's argument. 'Recommend' is better than 'require'. Screen readers aren't so hot at reading pictures to people, especially since the image description field is optional during upload, and I bet most people don't fill it in - myself included, shamefully, as I never noticed the field there until a few weeks ago.

Well, that's just not fair. That's the whole story, right there.

As far as pictures go, I really like the idea of requiring them. I was going to write about a Ducati I once owned, they made really fine vibrators, so I searched for nude on Ducati. What I found was a nude bareback on a horse, and suddenly there was my story.

I have lots of little erotic tidbits floating around in my mind that haven't had a home until now. And I love the pics because I think they help fill in the story. The majority of submissions have been really good. Some, average. And of course, a few people seem to be taking the mick a bit.

We want this category to be a huge success. It will hopefully encourage new authors to write and publish here, especially those who might not feel they have an entire story in them just yet. Plus it offers up a savage challenge to existing writers.

Talking of which, it must be time for a new competition ...
