Would you like to see a Historical category added?

I really like that this site is so responsive to the community here, and open to new ideas. Bravo, Lush.

I think it's weird you can't write about living famous people, if it is clearly labeled as fiction. Seems like that should be protected (you can write satire about living famous people, why not sex?). I know nothing about the law involved, though.

I think it may have something to do with the overarching negative social stigma associated with erotica and pornography of any kind. People get sued for it all the time. It could be considered slander, I suppose. Maybe.

That's my general take on it.

I think it involves the possibility of a libel suit. Besides, with so many other options (although I WILL ADMIT that there are DEFINITELY some hot starlets I DO fantasize about, check the celebrity crush thread to see a few) is there really any NEED to write about those who are living and famous?

I MENTIONED HARVEY WEINSTEIN in a recent in a recent submission that got MEGABOUNCED!!!

(It was JUST THAT HE HAD A MEETING WITH MY CHARACTERS!!! HE WAS INCIDENTAL!!!)

*BOING, BOING, BOING!!!*

You RESPECT the CALL even when it's WRONG!!! *SMILES!!!*

Legal or not, I'm glad fan fiction isn't allowed on lush. All of it that I have read is awful. Like, really shitty. I mostly read it for laughs. There's so much of it out there too that if lush allowed it you'd have a ton of it dumped here by authors looking for a few more readers.

Just change it to Harley Goldstein... Problem solved.

Your doppelgänger here on Lush finds that kinda weird:

It's so weird to me that so many people are voting no. Being vocally opposed to a new category is weird to me too. Like, how does it affect you really? What hardship is going to come to your life if a new category is added?

Remember when you said you were going to contact the authorities in California and then sue me for slander?

That was so dang funny, dude.

Fan fiction isn't really a category. It can be about anything. From Brad Pitt in a furry suit dipping his balls in wax to making Martha Stewart say it's a good thing right before you fuck her in the ass.

Fan fiction sites have multiple categories under the fan fiction umbrella.

I hope this site's ownership has a sense of humor. At some point, your non stop harassment of people on this site WILL result in a heart attack, stroke or push someone in a fragile mental state into a suicidal depression. Any one of those possibilities carries with it the possibility of a multi million dollar suit that would be every bit as expensive to defend and disasterous to lose as a suit for libel and slander filed by some broke celebrity looking to cash in.

Most categories can be combined with most others. Gay revenge porn in 16th century Vatican, Viking/Native American interracial sex, Charlie Chaplin's first time exhibitionism, etc.

Yeah, those are all under the erotica umbrella (except chaplin I guess)... Fan fiction is the same. Fan fiction about celebrities. Fan fiction about characters like batman, marry poppins, the mother of dragons etc. Fan fiction that's gay. Fan fiction that's about inserting sex scenes into movies... And on and on.

Most importantly though... Allowing fan fiction would be an actual hardship to the site. People would flock here to submit their terrible fan fiction, taking up story mod time and tanking the overall quality of the site.

Are you done trying to be a hero or are you going to say something else?
*FUCK ALL OF THIS WAFFLE!!!*

I have STORIES already posted THAT MIGHT GET FUCKING READ if we had THIS CATEGORY.

So, Unnnnnnn....... CAN WE JUST MOVE ON IT?

I always considered "fan fiction" as a writer's take on a piece of literature or writing already in print. I would consider Pride and Prejudice and Zombies as a form of fan fiction. Stories about living celebrities would be just that... a story about a celebrity.

Technically there is a niche or a genre of fan fiction, but those are best serviced on sites dedicated to the original story or series (Twilight, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and much more.)

As for Lush... I do agree it has no place here. Even if Steph wants to fuck Betty Rubble's ass (in a literary fashion).

Fanfic has become the act of writing a story using characters and setting already established in a published novel/movie/tv show, etc.

Poppet: "So? Can I Expect Some Input From You On Our Spanish Civil War Epic Collab???"

Me: "oh shit..."

Me: Yes Steph, let's make pavement!

Steph: You want to write a story AND do outside work. Are you mad?!

Me: We can skip making pavement, if we can finally get back to writing. It has been a month.

Steph: Lady M has been waiting longer. So there!

Nicola: Ladies, don't gang up on Steph. It's Steph, what did you expect?

Me/Lady M: Yes ma'am. How silly of us.

Poppet xx :P
Would a Charlie Chaplin story go into Humour or Historical?

Anyway, the motion has been passed by an overwhelming majority. An email has been dispatched to the lush dungeon. It shall be so (soonish).
I am excited about this. I only have one question. How accurate does the story have to be historically? Can we fictionalize it? I have tons of historical things I want to explore. The twenties prohibition. The Vietnam war from both the flower child and soldiers point of view. The Roman occupation of Persia. The height of the Cold War.

The only other category I'd suggest is Cat Poetry. Gatto impressed me.
