Story Picks for the Month

Simply because I am curious, can someone tell me what the criteria are for making the "Story Picks for the ..." list?

I was looking for a story to read and just happened to click on one of the stories on the list and read it. It was ok, then I looked the date it was posted, views, and ratings. I then went to two other stories that I enjoyed more and looked at the same. I was surprised to note that those particular had more views, was posted early in the month, and the rating was slightly lower but the story had more or the same amount of votes. IMO this seems a bit odd.

What I'm gathering is that if a story has been rated with all fives, regardless of views and time viewed during the month it will be a story pick, is this true?

ps I searched the forums for this topic and found similar questions in the bug thread but this is not a bug issue.

Yep...it's the top rated stories for that month...and note, that the list will change throughout the month...the one's that are on there now, may or may not stay there as the voting continues...

So, those stories you thought should be up there may very well end up there by the end of the month...
