I only have 30.

It's 30 more than I ever thought I would have though so I'm very happy.

I vote yes to all the new badges. Gives me more to shoot for smile
I'd love it if we had the extra toolbar features we have here on the forums, available when writing a PM to someone. Even just the text choices, bold, italic, colour etc....

All I can say to this is NO!!!!!
Warning: The opinions above are those of an anonymous individual on the internet. They are opinions, unless they're facts. They may be ill-informed, out of touch with reality or just plain stupid. They may contain traces of irony. If reading these opinions causes you to be become outraged or you start displaying the symptoms of outrage, stop reading them immediately. If symptoms persist, consult a psychiatrist.

Why not read some stories instead

ok. a good reason for you maybe, not everyone sends messages with type like that. How long did it take you to do that sentence? lol.
You know how R.R.s and/or E.Cs have icons to separate them from the rest?

I was thinking we could have the same thing for Famous & Legendary stories.

Not everyone knows Famous is between 30,000-100,000 views and Legendary is 100,000+

I think it would help get the real popular stories out there.

I'd like the option to delete certain things from the timeline, if it's at all feasible. Or at the very least be able to block images/videos from showing up on the timeline like we can do for friends' blog posts.

Sometimes people like to leave a page worth of pics/.gifs on my wall, and it shows up on my timeline...which makes it take a really long time to log in because these pics are loading. Not to mention it's a bit embarrassing if you're logging on in public.

Even if you delete the actual posts, they show up on the timeline.

I mean I know I can just opt to log on directly to the homepage or to my profile page, but I prefer the timeline. I just don't like waiting for all those pics and such to load.

Just thinking that the Lush Gold option, I think since some page redesigns and in particular the Home Page, isnt at all prominant and Silver isnt to be seen anywhere (only in the Lush Gold page). Just thinking sales and site revenue here.
I've always wondered why non gold members get almost as much from the site as gold members. In my opinion, there's no incentive to pay for gold because non gold are getting almost the same privileges.

Maybe a couple of the most popular social features could be available for only gold or silver. Features that aren't going to encourage a reader to go elsewhere.

I'm referring to NEW memberships, not existing ones.

Invisibility Take that ability away from non paying members. I've only got to look at my friends list to see hardly anyone is ever visible and I rarely see the name of anyone sitting at the bottom of the forums. Taking a guess, I think that would be fairly popular.

No storage space for uploading pictures,
No private photo albums or videos,
No image or video gallery
Not being able to hide the last visit to the site.
(perhaps no posting on friends walls) for 'ordinary' members. This option has an extra advantage of taking some of the weight off the servers. Perhaps just one of these options would encourage people to go gold or silver.

It's not taking much away from them, but they're still features I think members would pay to have. Readers can still read, writers can still write and upload their stories here for free but if you want extras, you have to buy gold or silver. Even just to be able to be invisible on the site would encourage some readers to buy gold or silver.
The ability to mute individuals on Friends Activity - those addicted to posting on every word game forum mainly

As much as I would like to see, as many would, more members give back in the form of either silver or gold membership I don't think taking away features that have effectively always been free is the right way to go .. it would simply (I must stop using that word) be unfair. All of the things you get on either membership are extra's but perhaps those extra's aren't enough to encourage many of the circa 250k members to hand over their cash. If the site owner is interested in trying to generate more revenue through these memberships then I think it's a case of throwing more goodies into the pot.

I was going to suggest as another extra, in the chat rooms given I use them a little bit, free biscuits and tea/coffee within reason but I've been there and done that and quite honestly they just don't taste the same.

Just my 2 pence smile.
Thanks John, I meant new memberships, not existing ones. I edited my post above to reflect that.. The coffee, tea and bikkies won't work, they never like what you give them.. They always want better ones.

So there'd be non-gold members who get grandfathered in, and new non-gold members will be the ones without all the perks that other non-gold members already enjoy?

The gold memberships weren't originally created for exclusion. From what I understand, there were people who loved the site so much that they wanted to donate monetarily, so the gold memberships were a way for them to not only donate securely, but also as sort of a 'Thank you for donating, here's a few perks.' Not to exclude those who don't donate.

And I'm sure that's not the intent behind your request, but denying a non-gold member the ability to post on a friend's wall...among other things, seems like a bit much. The site as we enjoy it now was here first. The gold memberships are just a byproduct, not the other way around.

You'd inherently be paying to use the site. Lush is a free site.

Thank you Dani. I know the gold memberships are just a byproduct, and the site as we enjoy it now was here first. That doesn't mean certain practices can never be reviewed. I didn't use the term 'donate' because then it wouldn't be a donation. Perhaps the word 'donate' is the key here. I had a few suggestions, if they don't suit the site owner, then that's ok.
It would still be a 'free' site. Being able or unable to make yourself invisible or other little perks would be classed no differently than the little advantages Gold members receive now.

These aren't small advantages. These are basic site usages. Not to mention it's placing limits on privacy. Anyone should at the very least be able to upload a photo of themselves or anything else and control who has access to it. Paying for privacy and another medium to interact with friends is a bit drastic.

I completely see where you're coming from, and it makes sense. But having perks is one thing...isolation is another. Maybe more perks for goldies could be a solution...as opposed to more restrictions for non-goldies.

How many of you ladies would dread signing on if you couldn't be invisible? I wonder how many new members would be women if we were to do that...

The Wild Girl anthology need not be read in any order but does take place in the following timeframe

Wild at Heart- 1968. The story of Dani’s Great Aunt Evie.

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/first-time/wild-at-heart

Wild Oats. Part 1&2. -2021. Dani is 16 and sets her sights on her stepfather.

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/taboo/wild-oats-part-1

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/taboo/wild-oats-part-2

Wild Child. 2025. Dani is now 20 years old.

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/taboo/wild-child

We could do something like making only Gold members show up in the authors scroll or the top authors list on the right side of the page.

We could also give gold member stories a higher percentage of showing up in a random story search.

Or, how about one contest a year in which only gold members could enter? I really like that one.

Do you think they may add a badge for 200 Stories published. I think by years end a few of us maybe hitting that goal.
Why not create a 200 story badge? It's not like they cost a bundle to crank out and some writers might enjoy the recognition. I'm just wondering what sort of badge Harry Lime, with his over 400 stories, would receive?

I like some of those ideas. Oops, When I posted the suggestion of only making invisibility available to silver or gold, I worded it incorrectly. I meant to say, the ability to be invisible on the forums only. It was my suggestion that we be able to do that and I know a lot of people liked it, but like you say, it's something that's already in place. I wouldn't suggest denying anyone the ability to be invisible at all. Well, not on purpose.

I like the badge ideas, and think all three suggestions in Milik's second post sound good.
Why stop there? Why not have votes on stories by Gold authors going from 3-7 instead of 1-5 - they're bound to be that much better than stories written by people from steerage. Or maybe have it so that Gold authors can limit comments to Gold members only and keep the riff-raff out.

I would love to see a spell checker on email and also on forum posts. I don't know if that is hard to do or if possible. But it would help.

How about a badge for 10 famous stories. I mean it is pretty incredible to have one but some writers have 5 or 10. I think that is pretty fabulous and maybe they could be recognized for that.

I have a few that hopefully will become famous maybe by the end of the year. Getting closer. lol
